Roethlisberger Walked.........ugh!

I wonder at what point people begin to speculate that maybe he is a bad egg? It's just as plausible as him being a great guy with an uncanny knack of being at the wrong place and with the wrong person.

these woman have no where near the "power" to fight him in court.

Do you know these women? These would be criminal trial, would they not? Wouldn't the prosecutor have that power?

The guy may be guilty as sin, but now that the allegations have been made he'll never be innocent.

Again, you are convicting him on hearsay and public opinion. If it was assault, why would the woman start an investigation and then decide not to bother?

The same reason women for YEARS have chosen NOT to become the victimized after an assault or rape. It's hard to prove unless they have forensic proof and even then it's not considered proof of non consent. This is older than the oldest profession.

Amen, or the nerve to deal with his "fans" who will undoubtedly never believe her and call her every name outside of her own.

Now, just stop it, Robin. Who are you to inject rational sense into this discussion??? Roethlisberger is either a saint or the devil himself...and the girl is either a nun or a slut. There is no rational middle ground that would leave them both guilty of stupid, irresponsible behavior. Silly, Robin. ;)

For the record, my opinion is the dude quacks BIG TIME and I think it's just a matter of time until he gets himself into serious trouble (again). But, in this case, the proof was not there.

I know I know, what's WRONG with me~!!! ;)

Do you know them? Did you see him do it .... what kind of questions are these?????

These punks will continue to do whatever they want because their blind public will ALWAYS defend them. They don't need a lawyer, send in their "fans".

PLB Sports president Ty Ballou says Roethlisberger is "falling short" of the company's standards after a Georgia prosecutor announced Monday he will not prosecute the quarterback over sexual assault allegations.

The company said in a statement on Tuesday that facts presented at the prosecutor's news conference led to the decision.

The company sold "Big Ben's Beef Jerky" in bags depicting the quarterback at Pittsburgh area Giant Eagle supermarkets and GetGo convenience stores.

The same company markets a breakfast cereal endorsed by Steelers receiver Hines Ward and Penguins forward Max Talbot.

I dunno... I think BEEF JERKY matches him well... ;)

And the women will always be branded as money grabbers even if they were assaulted.

The "curse" of his wealth is also a boon to him. If he does do anything, it's a handy excuse that it's because of his money he is accused. And if it does go to trial, his wealth would enable him to pick the cream of the crop of attorneys which does matter quite a bit.

No telling what really happened, but there is a full realm of possibilities and the negative outcomes don't all apply to only "poor" B.R..

yeah and I am sure not enough to make anywhere near a dent for him...but hey, it's a start!

This quote also could have been easily then spoken against the aforementioned Duke lacrosse team early on in their case when they were pilloried in the press for being privileged spoiled athletes who clearly felt they were allowed to misbehave with impunity.

As you alluded to earlier, I think the truth is that Ben Roethlisberger's behavior is likely somewhere between that of "Capt. America" and "serial rapist". And just because some people don't think he's guilty of the worst, doesn't mean they're "defending him" or saying they'd want him dating their daughter. The latest charge that was being reacted to is EXTREMELY VAGUE. The lawyer interviewed doesn't even explicitly call it an "assault".

But I will agree that one thing is certain, Roethlisberger needs to get a few tokens for the Clue Bus with regard to his personal behavior. He's about half-way to "Vick-ing" himself.

I am a Steelers and Roethlisberger fan. But Ben is one big idiot! I totally agree with what Terry Bradshaw said in an interview yesterday. Big Ben needs to wake up!

How many times does reality have to slap you in the face before you wake up? He is either someone who attacks women or someone who is stupid enough to put himself in bad situations. Either way you see it, he is a loser. Now, I don't know if he attacked that woman (or the other for that matter). But, he is, at the minimum, guilty of poor judgement. Wake up, Ben!

Look at all of the other high-profile quarterbacks who manage to stay out of trouble. It is possible, but you have to grow up. Not sure if Ben can do that.

and for god's sake...if he needs to find someone to sleep with, fly to vegas and pay the working girls.

I agree with this totally. This whole situation should put the fear of god into him. The goodwill of the Rooneys will not last long if this behavior continues! I am a Steelers Fan and a fan of Big Ben but he is behaving like an over grown frat boy.

The Duke LaCrosse case is one out of untold numbers of cases where women are the victims and then turned into the victimized. For every Duke case I'm sure there are hundreds of assaulted women who wouldn't DARE go against the precious superstars of sports that are looked upon as gods while they use their superstardom to feel above the laws of morality and society.

Yes, and I have to wonder how close they are to being at the end of their rope. They don't put up with this kind of thing. As a Steelers fan and a native Pittsburgher, I have so much respect for the Rooneys and the way they do things.

If Ben does stay with the Steelers, it will be very interesting to see the reaction of the fans at the start of the new season. A news poll was taken yesterday and 90% of the fans here locally did not buy his apology and agreed that he needs to grow up.

Also will be interesting to see how the team reacts. He was asked not to attend indoor practices last month because it was felt that everything going on with his personal life would detract from what needed to be accomplished during practice.

I'm not defending him but rather the fact that people have already convicted him without knowing whether he did it or not. It is easy to say that he did because: 1 - he is famous, 2 - he is rich, 3 - he is a man, 4 - there have been other ALLEGATIONS, 3 - history says the woman has no power to fight him.

It doesn't matter whether it is true or not, he will always be thought of as a man who sexually assaulted women.

There are certainly counter-examples to the Duke case, but the fact that there are exceptions like the lacrosse players means that this isn't a card that can be played to trump the lack of facts in a case against an athlete.

There is way too much discussion here. I always have problems with people on this board complaining about court verdicts. The overall statement is you don't have to agree with them but you have to accept them. You are not an expert, you were not in the court/reviewing evidence/interviewing people/etc. Most of your exposure comes from the media. These people who are in the court/doing the case are experts/have ALL the info, you don't. They are the best ones to make the decisions.
