This is what I don't understand - not saying he's innocent or guilty because I wasn't there and don't know the man.

He is a millionaire 10+ times over, has a very high profile job and while not good looking in the slightest i'm sure he has a great personality. Why in the world would he have to attack someone to have sex? There must be tons of women who throw themselves at him so why in the world would he have to follow some random girl he met an hour before into the bathroom to grab her?

While Ben may have questionable judgement and may be a jerk, these ladies that athletes and celebrities surround themselves with are not exactly nuns either......just sayin'......I think it's a money grab.

What nobody is talking about and something we know 100% true is that the young girl defrauded the establishment and the state of Georgia, after all she was only 20 (drinking age is 21).

I know someone (not an athelete, though) who was falsely accused of a similar crime. His case was talked about everywhere - even on the Dis - and everyone assumed he was guilty. The headlines were huge. I knew he wasn't guilty because I know him and I know he isn't capable of that sort of thing, and the other people I know who work with him said the same thing. No one who didn't know him ever seemed to consider the possibility that he was innocent - I guess the story wasn't as fun to talk about if you didn't assume he was guilty. New information finally came out recently that supports his claims that he was not guilty. That wasn't discussed anywhere. There weren't headlines about that, it was just mentioned in tiny type on a few websites. Even now most times he is mentioned online, it's followed by "who was accused of . . ." even though those accusations were false.

It's easy for someone to accuse somebody falsely about things like that, and if the accused really was involved with the accuser it's almost impossible to prove it was consensual. It's one of the few crimes where people are assumed guilty until (and sometimes even after) being proven innocent.

I have no idea what happened between Roethlisberger and his accuser. Maybe something consensual happened or maybe he did assault her. But I do feel badly for him that this accusation will probably follow him forever whether or not he did anything wrong.

i dont know if he did it or not,just saying he is dumb. this is the second accusation on sexual charges, and the first stupid thing he did was when he wrecked on his motorcycle and not having a helmet on. maybe thats what lead to his stupid decissions and bad judgement.

I'm sorry but at 27 years old, being in the spotlight and making that kind of money at a class act organization, the guy should know better than to place himself in those situations. Period!!! There's been too many stories floating around Pittsburgh of the way he carries himself in the clubs here locally.

Hopefully he wised up and if he didn't I hope the Rooneys' drop him. He disgraced them, he embarrassed the city and there's too much talent out there who can throw a football and represent the team better than he has. EVERYONE is expendable, even top athletes.

As to the girl being a minor in the bar, yeah, she should not have been there but then again, it was a college bar in a college town so I'm guessing she wasn't the only one and I'd bet the bar was happy to look the other way for the money they were making.

I agree with you on that point and again, this is just my opinion and because he's a public figure, when things like this happen, people are going to form their opinions, right or wrong, and we're going to base them on assumptions, right or wrong, because we aren't privy to the facts and we weren't there. And because he's a public figure, with a lot of money, is all the more reason not to go out and get loaded and have sex with drunk girls in bathroom bars. Each incident casts more doubt.

The girl has stayed out of the spotlight and the news reported both she and her family requested the DA not to press charges. There was no DNA evidence, he could've been wearing a condom. FWIW I don't think he drug her into a bathroom stall and violently raped her but I do think he took it too far and that he's slimy. Maybe he already paid her off, we'll never know but I think he did something wrong, something stupid.

And the Steelers organization will not tolerate that kind of stupidity, criminal or not, as they proved today when they traded Santonio Holmes.

He's got plenty of fans to defend him, I'm just not one of them.

ETA - Just wanted to add that when I said "violently raped", I'm not saying that anything less than a women being attacked, beaten, etc, doesn't constitute rape when a man forces himself on a woman so I hope that isn't taken out of context. I hope that makes sense.
