Rode Suess Trolley train - thumbs down!

The ride is cute enough I guess, but it seemed awfully short (you don't get to ride the full track - only half. Each side where you load is a different track.)

The problem is that we waited in line for 49 minutes.

Let me put this in very real terms. At Magic Kingdom at Disney, I love the People Mover/TTA. It is relaxing, it is adequate ride time (Im guessing between 7-10 minutes??) And it NEVER has a line, even on the busiest summer or holiday peak day, it doesn't have a long wait, if any.

The Suess Ride is very similar to TTA in terms of speed and being in the air, except the ride is not nearly as long - instead, the line is super long.

What made the long line extra annoying is that they clearly could run more trains on their track. A train would leave the station and another car wouldnt arrive on that line for a minute or 2 - and by arrive, I mean at the unload station - then it would slowly advance to the load station. In terms of other rides, frequent visitors may realize how annoying it would be to learn that the Hulk is only running 1 or 2 trains instead of the 3 or 4 it can handle. The result is that the line is unnecessarily long because they are not maximizing their capacity. Another person in line asked a worker if they were running all the trains, and she said yes. They run 4 trains, which equates to 2 for each side (even though it is one track - essentially, you ride half the ride, arrive at the station on the opposite side and must get off).

Bottom line, the capacity on this attraction is very very low (each train holds 20 people max but more like 15-16 when parties of 3 are involved). To make it worse, people who purchase Universal Express or get it with their hotel stay skip right past you.

Lastly, a super annoying worker at the attraction insisted that everyone yell "choo-choo" when their "train" arrived. It wasnt cute or fun, it was incredibly annoying. I think this worker drank from the same caffeine drink that Richard Simmons drinks from :-)

Final review - fun enough ride if there is no line, but waiting for nearly an hour, i felt like it was an hour of my life I wish I could have back, lol. I would only do the ride again if the line was under 5 minutes. It was very underwhelming.

You were on the SUESS Trolley and you expected High Theater from the Ride Operator? :confused3

P.S. That ride is designed for the 5 yr old set.

I didnt ride it when I was there last week because the line was too long. I figure by the time we go back, the newness will have worn off, and then the line will be shorter. If I had a tiny tot I might have ridden it but try convincing a 14 yr old! I saw it when we were eating in circus mcgurkus and it looked cute.

I see that you're a relatively new forum member, so first--Welcome! As you are new, you should know that those of us who are regulars on the Universal side have been going through a period where it seems that lots of Disney-only fans have been coming over here to bash anything and everything Universal. I guess you could say that our defenses have been on high alert lately. :teeth:

I haven't ridden the Seuss Trolley yet, but when we do, it'll be close to first thing in the a.m. Well, right after I get my Hulk fix!

I understand, thanks for the heads up.

As I said off the bat, the ride is cute enough for what it is, just do it with a short line so you won't be disappointed. Early morn sounds like a great plan.

We rode this on Sunday and thought it was cute. We waited a long time, but the ride was down due to lightning within a 5mi radius. That emptied out the que! I did not realize the ride was that new.

The problem I had with it was like the OP, one of the operators. I was wearing a fanny pack, which I pushed as far over to my left side as possible before pulling down the lap bar. The seats are a bit molded, so the bag could only go about 1/2 way around me. The guy says, "can you push your bag to the side" and I said "it was over as far as it goes." He proceeds to plush down on the lap bar so that it slams into my stomach. If the lap bar hadn't been locked, I would have goten off the ride to clean this kid's clock. He then came back to flirt with my friend, the loser. Mind you, we were two thiry somethings visiting the park one a very infrequent day off (on my part, as I usually work 7 days a week). I wear a size 12, so that wasn't the problem. What he did was unnecessary.

Other than that, we had a great time at US! The Seuss Trolley was the only ride we made it on at IOA - Spiderman was down (we went over there after getting off the Trolley) so we left. We almost made it to the end of City Walk before the skies OPENED up!

I would give the Trolley 2 thumbs up for the younger set - like 4-7 or so. It was cute!

We rode it today. It was cute but the lines were impossible. We arrived at park opening as planned and the ride was down. It didn't end up opening until after 11:00 today. Just so happens we were sitting down eating our packed lunch in the stroller area near the ride when we saw them open it up. So we ran to get on. Before we could reach the top of the staircase, the fire alarm on the ride went off so we had to turn around and leave the building. It was another 20 minutes or so of waiting before they opened it again...and by that time a really long line developed behind us since everyone knew the ride would be running shortly. So we got one ride through and that was it. It was a cute ride, I would have liked to do it over and over with the kids but the mechanical problems when the park was empty prevented that.

Just got back from 6 nights at RPR and 5 days at the parks and Citywalk - loved it all! My wife, kids and I all got into the "Choo Choo" thing because it is fun, it is a child's playland and Dr. Seuss would have wanted it that way! We all enjoyed the ride - three times!

Is there an express pass line to this ride yet?

There is a staircase for it. I vaugly remember someone actually using it last weekend, however as I blew past the the ride tonight with it's 40 minute wait at 8pm on a Saturday, I didn't notice if the line was in use. Too busy trying to get my 3 year old to stop screaming about riding 'Trolly' Come on kid, you know you don't stand still for a 20 minute line ;) Mom took her to the 5 minute wait that was the Flying Unicorn and all was good again.

I guess the "official" opening day was last Thursday (at least it was a news story on Orlando newscasts that day) and my brothers and I explored both Universal parks the Friday after it opened.

After riding Hulk and Spiderman before even the official park opening (gotta give it to Universal for opening a few rides in IOA before the official 9am start), we ran over to the Seuss Trolley for a spin. Now, we range in age from 18-26 so we realize that this is not a ride aimed at us. However, we can appreciate a good kid's ride anyday ("The Cat in the Hat" ride is one of our favorites in the park).

Sorry, but this ain't a good kid's ride. There's nothing to it at all. It's short and like the OP said, the lines on this thing will build due to capacity issues. Since we were there around 9am, there was no line at all, but those ride operators were having one heckuva time figuring this thing out.

Now, I understand that this was the first full day of official operation, so I was willing to give them a reprieve on that, but these operators really need to get their act together quickly. We literally sat in the train for 2-3 minutes before they sent us on our way...and before they sent us, some woman yelled at my brother to "Lift your arms up NOW, kid!" so she could push the lapbar into his abdomen. Hmmm....If they were this happy on day one...

But I digress...as for the ride, there's nothing to it. Sure, there's nothing to the TTA either, but at least it loads quickly and lasts for a while. I will never ride this one again. There's nothing redeeming to it in the least. The show scenes are poor (as are TTA's...I realize that), and the rhyming storyline kinda got old quickly, but the shortness of it all is its true downfall.

Now, I realize I'm not a Universal board poster and I'll probably get flamed for the post, but this ride really is pointless and I can't see how Universal will be getting anything but complaints from parents who wait 60 minutes for this dreck.

I think it's an unfortunate fact of life...sometimes a ride will seem like a really good idea on the drawing board, and won't go over so great in real life. It doesn't matter which company is doing the planning. However, being parents, we will wait in line for these rides just to make our little ones happy, and :sad2: the whole time.

Well, people complained before it opened and I'm sure they will complain now that it is open.

I'm sure it is better open than closed. :goodvibes

Agreed.

Why anyone would get in line for a BRAND NEW kiddie ride and then complain about the wait time and how underwhelming & annoying the experience was from an adult's perspective is beyond me. And then to compare it to an OLD ride that hasn't pulled in crowds for years...

Common sense has left the building.

Do we not still have guidelines for posting here on the DIS? Or, has that left the building?

After listening to many of the comments on this thread, I'm beginning to wonder why TPTB would even bother to open this ride at all. For five years, we've been hearing that "The Sneeches" ride wouldn't open because of capacity/through-put issues. It would seem that this is still a major issue. Why was the ride allowed to open now after all these years? Yes, I understand that it's not the same ride that was originally planned, but the issues that caused it never to open seem to be the same. Opinions?

I got to ride it yesterday and found it to be cute but nothing to stand in line for hours to ride. The themeing was good and we actually got to ride both sides because it was dead. It is definitely a good kid's ride if they are into Dr. Suess.

Actually I never heard capacity as a reason it didn't open.

It is a good kids ride, which is exactly what it is. My 8 yr old loved it was wanted to skip watching sinbad to ride again. Aparently she didn't mind the hr wait we had the first time.

Rode it last week. My 6 year old DD liked it and I thought it was a cute children's ride, we listened to the story as we went over each section of the ride. I only waited about a minute in the Express line though. I pretty much don't want to wait more than 15 minutes for anything, so that would probably make me have a different attitude!

I never heard that as a reason before, the main reason it never opened to begin with is because the company contracted to build it went out of business before the ride was finished.

Anyway, if capacity was such an issue, how did Pteranadon Flyers open?
