The Rocky Horror Picture Show was on last night.

DS15 sat down on the couch with DH and started watching it with that "WTH look" on his face. He quickly lost that look as he got a kick out of listen to us talk about wearing a rain coat if you didn't want to get wet during the one part. How lots of people would dress up as their favorite. And all the other fun stuff you HAVE to do during the movie.

Thought he was going to spit water all over the place, when I came running out of the bedroom to do the time warp. He was laughing so hard, DD13 had to come out and see what was going on. So she stood there with that "WTH look" on her face watching me time warp. By the end, she was shaking her head and telling me I was to never do that in front of her friends. Just to make her night, we replayed it - twice - just so I could teach DS how to do it. According to her, pelvic thrusts and her brother don't go together.

But she did sit down and watched the rest of it with them. DS now wants us to get this on DVD for him.

Most of my friends and I used to go every month in High School.

My best friend and I would play bridge with her grandmother until 11:00--then we would change (short skirts, fishnets, red nails and all) ans her sweet little grandmother would drop us off for the show:rotfl2: Afterwards the entire gang would walk over to Perkins for deep fried goodness. Oh those were fun days.:goodvibes

I have actually never watched it on DVD/video. It would seem so sad without the audience participation--but my kids are almost old enough for it, so at some point we will either HAVE to find a showing or else have to try and recreate enough that they can at least understand it. It sounds like you did a nice job on the recreating. I love the line about pelvic thrusts and her brother not being a good combo:lmao:

I didn't notice it was on until it was almost over.

Such a great movie!!

If Tim Curry wasn't old and I wasn't already married, I'd marry him.

My husband and I saw it at least 50 times at the theater, dragging along our bag of crap. I had the record album of the soundtrack and my kids grew up listening to that music. I still have a framed picture of Dr Frankenfurter in all of his hotness.

Love that movie. Just recently shared it with my son. He mentioned his one of his professor's was thinking of airing it so we watched it. I couldn't remember all the stuff we'd say, but I told him all the crazy things that people did. I wish they'd bring it back here too.

I was just introduced to Rocky Horror this year. Yes Glee made me want to see it. So I watched the movie and then last saturday I went and saw a live preformance. I looked up all the stuff you said during the movie so I knew what to yell. It was a great time.

Woohoo for Rocky Horror love!! I don't know why I don't own this on DVD already, and of course there's a wait for it on Netflix. I think Target has it for $7.50 or so, so that will be one of my stops tomorrow!

I remember a few years ago, MTV would run a marathon of Rocky Horror on Halloween night. I'm so bummed that they don't do this anymore.

I've been singing the lyrics "It was great when it all began ... I was a regular Frankie fan ..." all day long!

You know I saw this movie finally in college in a film class and i thought it was the worst movie I had ever seen...!! But after hearing all about the live showings, I'm DYING to go see it live. I think it will be so much fun (even tho i thought the movie was awful but that was ten years ago, i may appreacite it now..lol).
Thanks to this thread I found it is playing twice this weekend. And I was reading on what they do what to bring, it sounds like ALOT of fun!

I used to have a movie picture book of it. It showed pics, scene by scene with the dialogue. I let a lady I used to work with borrow it and never got it back. I keep telling my boys about this movie also. I will have to look and see if they are airing it anywhere around here.

The things I remember most about audience participation, besides the raincoats, they threw rice for the wedding and wet toast. I know people used to try and sneak water guns in, the food and other things. The theater we went to see it at was really good about stopping a lot of that, so we rarely saw it.

The first time I saw it was in the Village in 1978 or 79 (???), with a group of gay friends, after eating some shrooms. It wasn't pretty. I went sober the next time and became hooked.

We use to have two theaters show it here - years ago. Nobody does now. The closest one is about an hour and 1/2 drive.

But when it was showing here, the one theater limited you on what you could bring. The other one was FULL out - flying milk soaked toast, flinging rice, shooting water, hot dogs, confetti - you name it we had it on us. Picking rice and confetti out of your 80's big hair was a huge pain in the butt.

I love love love RHPS! My DD14 loves it as well. I have been in love with Tim Curry for YEARS. Nothing makes me wanna dance like the Time Warp...

I did the shadow cast in Erie PA in the late 70s. (Janet)

RHPS was my first date with my husband -- and we were both in costume.:)

Trying to remember packing list...lets see...
Rice
Newspaper
Squirt gun
lighter
toast
cards (for sorrow, cards for pain...back in the day, they were computer cards that were punched out to read sorrow and pain)

I know there were other things, but I can't remember now--Last time I went was in the mid 80s.

I did my 100th show at 8th Street Playhouse in the Village. It was a college celebration arranged and paid for by my friends as a birthday present :)
