***ROCKSTAR: Supernova*** (spoilers welcome)

I have no doubt Dilana can win this thing. :thumbsup2

She certainly has a "look" I could see Tommy going for....but if her singing can hold up will be the next test

I'm glad that I finally found a thread for this show particularly since it's the only show I'm watching right now!

Right now I like Toby and Storm. Dillana is interesting but I haven't decided if I like her or not. I want to like Chris but I don't think he's figured out what he's going to do yet.

I'm enjoying this season but I too wish that I knew what Supernova was all about. It's hard to decide who might fit best.

I'm with you, PG. I really like Chris -- his looks, his stage presence -- but whatever happened to get him that far, sure ain't happenin' now.

I wish we knew what Supernova would be like as well. One thing I loved about last year's show was that the three lowest in votes would have to sing an INXS song. I was hoping this year, they'd sing some GnR, Motley Crue, or Metallica. Maybe they just couldn't get permission for it. But that would have been great!

Here are my impressions:

Mangy - much improved from last week; far better stage presence. *Could* become a dark horse contender.

Jenny - I thought she would do better singing Natalie Merchant covers (rather than Jewel). I don't think she rocked it enough.

Jill - BAD courtney impersonation!

Zayra - another black unitard (or is it the same one?). She sings alright, but not for this band. I kind of liked her interpretation of the song.

Chris - much better than "Roxanne"; not bad, not outstanding

Dilana - Mezmerizing! And the house band sounded so awesome!

Josh - I just don't like his style/voice and I hate the song. I find the head rosking thing really annoying.

Phil - another one with the twitching/swaying! I just don't think his voice is strong enough.

Storm - Great voice. I'd like to see her do something more current (Pinball Wizard and Surrender are both 70's - can we get with the new millenium?)

Patrice - she reminds me of Cheryl Crow and I didn't think she rocked Nirvana.

Lukas - I had a hard time hearing him sing at times, he seemed drown out by the music. He's not as great as he thinks he is.

Ryan - Not bad, but he seemed to be straining when he was "yelling" lyrics.

Dana - "Born to be Mild" summed it up nicely. I see her as the next Nashville Rocker, but not the frontman for Supernova.

Toby - hottie! A good, solid performance.

My top three were Dilana, Toby and Storm;
My bottom three were Jill, Zayra and Josh.

I flipped back and forth last night between this and Kathy Griffin. I just can't get into them this year. I really don't think any of them are that great. :confused3 I REALLY don't see what the guys like about (crap, can't remember her name...the one with the real deep voice). She sounds horrible and she's freaky as hell on stage.

Oh no she didn't!!!!

 :faint:

VOTE her off NOW!!!

Yikes! I missed it going back and forth to Last Comic Standing! What did she say?

BTW, I hate the remarks they make, they sound so forced and they're trying so HARD to be cool. Ugh!
:scared:

I have it recorded, so I'll give you word for word what was said:

(she sang Kinks, "You Really Got Me" and it sounded really cool, but SO not rock n roll -- more with a Latin twist)

Gilby tells her, "I can't say you don't give it your all every time you perform. But I gotta tell ya, I don't think you have a clue of what we're looking for in a singer."

Zayra says very defensively, "You haven't told me."

The crowd boos.

Gilby: "Do you even own any record that any of us have been on?"

Zayra says hesitantly: "I've... heard... of your music" (crowd boos, Tommy Lee & Dave shouts "OHHH!" while Tommy throws down his mic) She goes on to add in a defiant way, "Baby, I was wearing diapers when that was out." (Dave shouting "Oh! Whoa!!!" while crowd goes nuts, the rest of the band members go nuts)

Tommy with much grace and style: "It's okay. Much love, excellent job."

SHE'S GOT TO GO!

Sometimes I get the feeling that each of the guys in the band are looking for different things...

Zayra needs to quit with the unitard...so boring - and on every show. I liked the music but not impressed with her voice at all. Hope she goes...

Jill could go too - don't think she's the right fit.

Dilana rocks! I could absolutely see her in front of this band. I kept waiting for her to go psycho like she did last week - but loved her interpretation of Ring of Fire.

:earseek:

I guess she bought her bus ticket back to Whoville... no loss.

My review of last night performances: (I kept shaking my head thinking how on earth did most of them get through to the finals :confused3 )

Mangi - Better than last week, not sure he would fit the band.

Jenny - She's just not right for this band.

Jill - YUK!!! :sad2:

Zayra - Please go home!

Chris - I get the feeling he's trying to ACT the part of a lead singer, instead of being the lead singer - something is just not right.

Dilana - Most people liked her, I didn't.

Josh - Ok

Phil - I just don't know

Storm - not as good as she was last week.

Patrice - Ok

Lukas - ummmmmmmmm........I felt myself being pulled in watching him perform, he's one of the ones that I want to see at the end. :thumbsup2

Ryan - I don't even remember him this morning - oh yea, the guy from New York - ok, but not right to front this band.

Dana - She's got a really good voice, but much too young to front this band.

Toby - my favorite from last week, he's really good and I like watching him on stage. :thumbsup2

Bottom Three: Chris, Jill, Zayra - please go home tonight Zayra!!

My reviews:
Magni: "My Generation"
I really didn't like him last week and was ready to tune him out. Thankfully I didn't because he's really good.

Jenny: "Tainted Love"
Interesting arrangement. I was cringing at the beginning because it was way too sweet and ballady but she made up for it at the end. Still don't think she's going to make it very far in this show.

Jill: "Violet"
I don't see where she brought her own interpretation to it. She did an ok Courtney Love impression though, but since this is not a Hole cover band it was a bad song choice. 2 weeks in a row of screaming songs is not impressive. She needs a song to show her vocal range and she hasn't picked one yet.

Zayra: "You Really Got Me"
She really just doesn't have the voice to front a rock band.

Chris: "Take Me Out"
Why does he think a curling iron and some eyeliner makes him a rocker? Oh my gaw he sucked. Please go home.

Dilana: "Ring of Fire"
Amazing. There's just something about the way she performs that sucks the audience in. Surprisingly great song choice because it showed that she had a good voice and isn't just growling.

Josh: "With Arms Wide Open"
He's got a good voice but brother needs to stop the Stevie Wonder impression. It's so distracting.

Phil: "If You Could Only See
Medicore. He did a decent rendition except for the parts he kind of whined through. Unfortunately there were a lot of whiny parts

Storm: "Surrender"
liked it because she has such a good voice and great stage presence but she hammed it up like it was a rock opera or something.

Patrice: "Heart-Shaped Box"
Good voice. Decent rendition but not as good as Jordis did last year.

Lukas: "Don't Panic"
I vehemently dislike Coldplay. Like I will change the channel when someone sings a coldplay song but I was interested in how he would do this song so I watched. He's got weird enunciation and it bothers me and he's so weird looking so I have to close my eyes to listen to him and not be distracted. I liked him with my eyes closed.

Ryan: "Jumping Jack Flash"
Zzzzzzzzzzzzz
How dare you do a Rolling Stones song and not even swagger!

Dana: "Born to be Wild"
She has an amazing voice. She over sang it a bit and I think she tried too hard to be something she's not. It was a bit American Idol for me and I just can't see her fronting this band. I can see her being hugely successful in a Kelly Clarkson way though.

Toby: "Somebody Told Me"
I really liked it. It wasn't spectacular or anything but he's cute and he can sing.

top 3:
Dilana
Toby
Storm

Bottom 3
Chris
Ryan
Zayra

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that Toby looks exactly like Charlie from "Lost"? I keep waiting for him to gloat about his band, DriveShaft! If I close my eyes, though, to keep from being distracted, he's a great singer. He's my pick so far.

And Josh? Oh my gosh, what do they see in him? I told hubby last night that Josh looks like a Bible Camp Counselor who's trying to act "rad" for talent night. He's a young Michael Bolton. It'll be interesting to see how he crumbles when they get down to the final episodes of the show and each member has to come up with original material. (If they follow last year's model of the show)

Phil is horrible and sings as if he needs a nap.

Lukas - And ye shall know how hard he rocks by this sign: he spells his name with a "k"!! Don't be frightened!! Please. He is SO manufactured. And that mumbly thing might have worked for Eddie Vedder and Michael Stipe...but they actually have talent. So stop it!

The guy who sang Jumpin' Jack Flash...can't recall his name, that's how boring he is....I was screaming at the TV, "HOW can you just STAND there while singing THAT song?" He finally ran around in the audience a little, but it was still lame. His voice isn't horrible, although he looks like David Blaine's "slow" cousin. I don't think Tommy meant that he should mimic Mick Jagger, I think he was just telling him to grow a personality ("show us your boat!").

I'm usually such an easy-going, loving person...hahaha! I seem to get all my vitriol out each week talking about this one show.

Salma Hayek has to go tonight!

Have you guys watched the reality episodes on MSN?

It's pretty eye opening, especially the first one!

Get a load of Zayra. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

When is it on?

I'm just not getting into this show like I did last year. I think I said it in an earlier post, INXS was so much more interesting and fun to watch.

These people all seem to have chips on their shouldars.

It's just on the website rockstar.msn.com

I like watching the reality portion, and I wish they'd show it on television. The video breaks up too much on my computer.
