rock tumbler

I think my dad must have had a really good one. We used to find rocks, and he would tumble them. At age 4 and 5, I loved pink -- so LOTS of rose quartz. When dad moved out west, he brought back petrified wood and moss agate. Those turned out FABULOUS!

He passed away last year. She won't let us have any of his things, and there was no inheritance, no will, nothing. All I asked her for, because of the rock-tumbling memories from B. S.M. (Before Step Mom), were some of the rocks. If only "dear" stepmom would let us have a rock or 2:confused3

My ds10 has one/ or had one. He loved it!! He tumbled through 2 sets of rocks that you can buy pre-packaged and then he tumbled through a handful of rocks he collected. About 1/2 way through the last batch it started leaking. The rocks had worna spot through the side of the tumble barrel. The rocks turned out smooth and very pretty. I will definately be getting a new barrel. Yes it is loud and yes it takes a long time, but he loves it and that is what matters.

We started it out in the kitchen. We put it in the bathroom in our basement and that was fine. It was noisy enough to remind us to check on it, but not noisy enough to bother us.

I had one but only ever made it halfway through my first batch. I don't know what happened to it but I feel really bad about never using it because I don't think my mother had much money the time that she bought it for my birthday.

I agree that you should get some beading materials instead.
