Rock-n-Roller Coaster preshow digitally altered?!?

Not going to lie, I'm pretty sure Steven Tyler knew EXACTLY what he was doing with that gesture and it wasn't just some random shielding of the eyes

Agree 100%.

Do they print these things in the church bulletin?

Possibly. I had a ton of religious friends and they had THE BEST dirty jokes. That's where the non churchgoers learned them all! If it weren't for my Sunday School friends I wouldn't have known a lot of the stuff I know.

How do you google this? I can't figure out how to Google a hand gesture. I have no idea why this would be considered offensive??? I Googled 'offensive hand gestures' and this one didn't come up anywhere.

Just totally confused as to why this is offensive.

urban dictionary is a good resource for disgusting knowledge, FWIW.

I'm sort of surprised they took THAT long to censor it...

There was a group of guys in our high school graduating class who took a picture with their band director and threw up the shocker. They got t-shirts printed and everything with this photo on it--and wore them on their band trip (ironically, to Disney World). The director thought absolutely NOTHING of it, much like a majority of the guests at RnRC would while watching the old pre-show. I really doubt the band director knew what the sign was.

Eventually, someone reported those t-shirts and I think either the band director (since he was in the photo) or the office confiscated them.

Worth noting: there was another picture going around with Mickey and those kids where Mickey threw up the shocker. I don't know how they got him to do it (or even how Mickey would do it given his costume and how large those fingers are), but sure enough it went around. I remember seeing it shortly after that band trip concluded, as I was on the video staff in high school and had to put together a slide show of the trip for the marching band. I didn't digitize that one for good reason... (Jeez, the marching band was less appropriate than the baseball or basketball teams....I did their videos too...)

It can't be a coincidence that it occurred after so many years, right at the time that the rumors are swirling around about a possible new theme. But I can't decide if it means either "we're getting rid of Aerosmith and one of the incidental reasons is that they're dirty minded", or "Aerosmith is here to stay, now cleaned up and ready for prime time."

EDIT ... And the next time one of you is on Spaceship Earth do me a favor ... if it breaks down at the right place, jump out and make the paperboy do a gang sign at the backdrop. Ditto the Yeti.

That's ONE way to get things fixed at WDW (apparently).

You know, I have spent more time thinking about this than any person in his or her right mind should, and I do not think that the Gonzo thing was a joke about pot. I think it was just a funny thing to show that you were seeing multiple Gonzos and not just one Gonzo on multiple screens. I know that the Muppets do funny jokes that are above more children's heads, but I don't think that was one. Tell me I'm wrong, though.

Thanks, everyone for your responses. I had never heard of this before, and I'm still not sure where I would have done so, if not for all of you. And at least I'm not alone in being 'uninformed'!

That being said, if I had to go to this much trouble to figure out what it meant, I really have to wonder how many people actually understood the gesture during the preshow and were offended by it?

I think its nuts that they took it out after all these years. I'll probably get flamed, but I am so tired of people visiting a Disney park and being offended by something so much that it has to be removed (Jungle Cruise skipper cap gun, PoTC buy a bride instead of wench...) People need to lighten up and laugh at things. Heck if you try hard enough you can make anything dirty, naughty, or offensive.

well at least now I have a reason to pay attention to the video - at least once

So, so, so lame. The "issue" and the way they "cleaned it up". Gross...on all levels.
