Rock-n-rollar coaster closed in Jan!!

man, i am so bummed!! I was reading on the US/IOA trip reports board-(can't help it-I love it too!!-but not as much as my dear Disney ) that someone was going to go to US/IOA in Jan because R-N-R was closed and I about started crying!! I quickly went over to the refurbishment list and there it is-closed Jan2-Jan 28!! the horrors!!
Anyways, my five year old has wanted to go on this for the past 2 trips this year and each time she has almost made the mark but not quite. Well, I just remeasured her and she is tall enough and we are so excited!! now-what to do?? We arrive on NYE but are not hitting any parks that day. We were going to do Typhoon Lagoon on Jan 1st but we will have to move around some stuff to get my baby on the ride she has been wating for!! Can someone please post the link that lists what the expected crowds are for the certain days? thanks-'Have A Magical Day!'--LOL

Jan seems to be the Big refurb month. I feel sorry for people that go that time of the year there is always one of the top rides down.

we go that time of year every year...and dont feel bad for us. there are NO crowds, weather is perfect, and the parks are absolutely great. sure, there may be A ride or TWO that are being refurbed...but how many others are there that aren't?! we have a blast and cant wait for next month to get here......i do have to say that when i saw rockin rollercoaster was going to be closed, i did call my wife and tell her....we reflected for a minute...."guess we will catch it next year!"

The Official Walt Disney World Web site has RnR closed for January 2 to January 21 , 2007. Opens a week earlier than the OP has . I hope this helps someone.

Me too. There is a trade off to the low crowds, but I'm more than happy to take it. We have been going yearly, and there hasn't been the same attraction down two years in a row yet. Last year we missed Test Track and one other (see? I don't even remember! LOL) This year it will be Splash and RNR coaster. Oh well, there is always next year!

Whoa, that scared me for a second. We get there on the 21st, and planned to go to MGM on the 24th. It wouldn't have ruined our trip our anything, but we really wanted to try out RnR. Looks like we get to ride it!

Well we will be there the 1st through the 8th, so hopfully they don't close it early so we will just to MGM first thing and do the right a BUNCH of times

Just to add that Splash Mountain will also be closed during the same time frame. I know because we will be at WDW from Jan 1-8. Oh well, there's always next years trip.

We will be at WDW arriving Jan 20th. We were there last year during the same week. Splash Mountain was also closed last year, so that will be 2 years in a row. Was really looking forward to going on this ride this year. My nephew who is uncertain of heights and roller coasters really wanted to try Splash Mountain this year, he is working his way into trying certain rides and after trying them he has discovered what he's been missing. This year it was suppose to be Splash Mountain that he wanted to try. Oh well, he'll just have to wait a little longer to try this ride.

Now on the other hand I'm excited to see R N R will be re-opening on Jan 21st. My son and I just love this ride, we ride it several times while we're at the park.

We go every January ( this is our 9th January in a row) and Im not sure every had the same ride being refurbished for our future enjoyment 2 years in a row. We mix our weeks up, so luckily we havent had that happen. You absolutely can not beat a January trip. The weather is usually perfect, there are no crowds, The park hours are shorter, so you arent exhausted trying to stay at the park until midnight.. It gives us a chance to go night swimming at the hotel.

I do have to say, im thrilled that RnRC will open back up while we are there. Id sure hate to not see my boyfriend Steven Tyler in January!! The kids will bummed about Splash being closed, but thats why we are AP holders and go 2-3 times a year!!

I am so glad to read this! I had read elsewhere that RNRC was to be closed the whole month, but if it is opening the 21st we still get to ride it.

Works for me , we arrive on the 21st. DW hates it but I like to jump on right after TT, never seems to be a long line so it's a short wait for DW. 1month 7days 9hours...

Out of respect for all your January folks, I chose not to ride RnR on our trip last weekend.

That and the fact the wait was too long and we weren't going to be there long enough for the FP return

I knew about the rumours for RnR refurb and was disappointed when it finally made the official site. DD23 and I will be there from Jan 7 to 14th, and we will miss both RnR and Splash. We're celebrating her graduation from college, and we're doing lots of things, so it won't be a disaster, but is a little sad

It's horrible, I know. We'll be getting there the day after you and us too dont plan to go to any park the day we arrive, so we are going to miss out on rideing it. When I found out, I was pissed. Especially about Splash Mt. being closed along with it. But I know those two rides being down wont be enough to ruin the trip for me. There are still a billion other things to do. I am very bummed though, but there's always next time (since I live on the West Coast, it probably wont be for a few years )

We are going in Jan, RnR is a great favorite, but to console myself , I plan on living on Everest for a week.

Oh i'm so sorry about that dissapointment.

But I'm also quite relieved at the same time becasue we'll be arriving in WDW in mid February. When you said RnRC was going to be closed during January I was like "PLEASE OPEN UP BEFORE FEBRUARY 16th!" haha well have a great trip anyways, I'm sure it will still be very magical.
