Rock Band/ Guitar Hero/ Band Hero ???

I would like to get my DS(6,8,11) set up with a band system for the Wii for Christmas. I guess my big question is instruments... what do I "need" and/ or what do I "want" (which may be two totally different things!)

What do you recommend for kids this age? Band Hero, Lego Rock Band lood good.

I saw that Band Hero is on Walmarts BF list. Any deals would be great too.

We have Rock Band 3 and it is perfect for us. Fiance plays guitar, kid plays drums, and I play keyboard. It's a LOT of good family fun.

We bought Band Hero for DD8 because it was the system that her camp uses on rainy days and the kids in that age group love it. That BF price is awesome, I paid $110ish (I think) on Amazon and that's the lowest I had seen until the Walmart ad came out.

Personally I'd get BH (the whole set) from Walmart and then maybe one or two of the other games if I could find them at a good price or even used. Even if you add one or two games, it's way cheaper than buying any of the other full sets.

The insturments are cross-compatable, so if you buy Band Hero box set you can just buy the game Rock Band or Guitar Hero and use the same guitars/drums/mic.

go with rockband, you can port over most songs from the other games ( except beatles) and there is soooo much more donladable content available for rock band.

Check at Best Buys in your area, we bought Band Hero for xbox360 about 6 weeks ago for our kids for $60. It was regular price on the website, but way marked down in store. It was the whole kit, guitar, drums, mike and game. We also bought them 3 of the Guitar Hero Games at Toys r Us during the buy 2 get 1 free. They had a ton of the guitar hero games for between $20-$25.

Our experience is that Band hero instruments will play rock band but not the other way around.

A friend of mine said she much prefers the RB drums over BH ones. I think the guitars are about the same though.

I bought the RB2 kit and rented BH from Gamefly, all my RB equipment worked fine when playing BH. I think RB1 equipment might not always work with the newer games, but you can't get RB1 anymore so it shouldn't be an issue for you.

I have RB2 for Wii (including the insturments) and rented Band Hero (just the game) from GameFly and it worked just fine. It should also work the other way around (BH instruments should work with RB2 game).

I have the RB beatles bundle and it works with the other RB games but the drums don't work with GH (we have World Tour, Aerosmith & legend of rock). The RB guitar and mic does work with GH.

There's a different set of GH drums I've seen sold and they are nothing like the RB drums.

which does WM sell for cheap on BF,and would this work along with the 'game only' of the Beatles rockband?

I would buy a RB bundle then just buy the GH games instead of the other way around. The RB instruments are better IMHO.

I know Rock Band 2 (and I would assume RB3) and Band Hero are interchangeable, at least for the Wii, because I've done it. I haven't played the Guitar Hero games so I couldn't speek to those.

You could try going to the websites for each game, I bet they have a FAQ section or something that will say what other games (if any) their kits are compatable with. Nothing like getting the information from the official source!

I believe it's rockband that has the listing of which instruments work with which games.

But for the most part, they're all interchangeable.
