Any advice about the Rochester NY airport? How long are the security lines for a late afternoon flight on a weekday? Anything I will wish I had known before I got there?

Late afternoon on a weekday... not very busy compared to a large airport. Only early mornings, especially monday and tuesday are very, very busy, sometimes lines out the door for security.

Nothing special to know except perhaps the various parking options and limited eating.

It's a pretty small airport. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to get through security during a busy time.

gosh, I never spend 30 minutes in security at MCO, let alone at ROC. For the OP, your security experience during the time you mention won't be more than 15 minutes (maybe less) from the time you get in line until the time security finishes violating your bags and body. They don't have TSA in Rochester, it's one of the 6 airports with government contract companies.

I guess you could say ROC is pretty small, but it's all relative. I've been to airports that are much smaller! Ever been to Bangor? Charleston? Or how about CMX? Now that's small.

The only time we ever have trouble is during a busy holiday time. We almost missed a flight to Jamaica the first day of the local schools' Easter/spring break. They pulled people to the front of the lines and worked it out, but it was stressful. We arrived 2 hours early because we expected crowds and we were out on the 6am flight but the lines were still crazy. Once you get through security you don't need to go very far to get to your gate.

ROC is such a small airport. It shouldn't take more than 15-20 minutes to get through security. When we go in November, we are picking DD up at preschool at 11:30 and heading to airport for our 1:05 flight. Her school is about 10 minutes from airport. Definitely no need to get to airport more than 90 minutes before, especially for the time you mentioned. That being said, I love having time at the airport to people watch. So being there early is sometimes fun. Always something good to see!

Very small stand, but they still honor all of the Subway specials (like $5 footlongs). Makes it a great place to get something cheap for the flight. I have always had fast service there, too.

I said 30 minutes during a busy time. But, generally, 15-20 minutes is average.
