I am excited to report that I have been accepted to both RIT and Clemson and I was wondering if anybody here has been to these schools or have any kind of information on them? Thanks so much!

My bf goes to RIT, so I've spent a far amount of time on campus. Do you want to know anything specific?

I love in rochester, and if you hate random cold weather dont come lol, but there are a lot of parties if you're into that and i know RIT is an amazing school to get into

Im assuming this is for engineering?

My friend also had this same choice, he went to RIT and LOVES it. If RIT had architecture I would have gone there, love the campus. In fact, many members of my high school class went there for various majors.

I also know a girl who went to clemson for engineering and she loves it, I guess it depends on what you are looking for in a college. But to the best of my knowledge, both are excellent schools.

Good Luck!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the responses so far. I guess I would like to know, in general, how the professors are, how is the administration staff, what is the city like? I live in WI, so the cold and snow is the norm for me (although I would look forward to warmer Clemson weather). Also, what are the best neighborhoods to live in for students? I would like something quiet, safe, and affordable. My party days are pretty much over and I am going for graduate school, so not too much social time for me. :(

what did your friends love about rit and clemson?

I think they loved RIT for the program, the city, and the people. I've never heard complaints on the professors. I'll ask him and get back to you.

As far as Clemson, she loves it there, but never said why. Again, I can ask and get back to you.

As far as the Co-op, it's the reason many people attend RIT. That I know for a fact. When it comes down to two school like you are, most pick RIT because of co-op. My dad did mechanical engineering back in the day at RIT. He co-oped for Delphi and has been working there ever since.

That's all I know off the top of my head, again if you want I can ask for more information.

As far as the city, I grew up in the ROC. It is a dying city, i'm not going to lie. It's a lot lilke Buffalo in that respect. But I feel that Rochester is a safer city than Buffalo. I like Rochester's downtown better than the one street that comprises Buffalo's. There is a lot to do, but like any other city, you have to go out and find it. That's again all I know being from the suburbs. Plus I haven't experienced the college side of Rochester since my college is in UB. When I go home for the summers there is always something going on.

PS: i'm not a partier so don't think I meant bar hopping. ;)

The guys I knew who lived off campus lived in Scottsville down the road from RIT. They were townhouses. I thought they were nice, I know a lot of off campus kids lived there so i'm not too sure how noisey it gets on the weekends.

Oh and I just remembered that one of my friends from UB goes to Clemson grad school for architecture. Again, no complaints from him, but he did go abroad in the fall. So good abroad programs I guess! Haven't spoken to him since hes been so busy. I'll see what I can find out.

Good luck choosing!:thumbsup2

I also grew up in Rochester (Fairport to be exact) and it is a nice town but like you said it is dying, but i know RIT is an amazing school and actually getting into the school is really good. There is so much housing around RIT so its your preference with what you want. ALso there is a lot of job opportunties since you are 1 mile away from the mall. If you do go to RIT, you are going to have to try a Garbage Plate.... that will be the best food you will ever have

Thanks again for the replies!

Garbage Plate? You must tell me what that is! It sounds right up my alley!

This is going to be a very hard choice....

Thanks, I guess if you do talk to them, that'd be cool to get some info, but definitely don't go out of your way.

What is the population/size of Rochester?
