I was going through some old stuff and I found the coolest thing. Back in the late 80's, I'm thinking 1988 or so, Epcot had a demonstration of robotics where the robot sketched you and you got the sketch for free. It was in the building that is now Innoventions West, I believe. Wasn't it called Communicore back then? Anyway, I'm having it framed with the certificate they provided, telling about the sketch. A perfect tribute for the 25th anniversary!
Did anybody else get the robot sketch back then? :)

No, not lucky enough to have one -- our visit closest to then was '91. Sounds like a very cool souvenir & a great idea for framing w/ the certificate.

Man, I miss the spirit EPCOT had back in the day -- LOL, listen to me, I sound like my parents!

YUP, it was called Communicore way back in the day. Those robots were really interesting to watch. Alas, I was not fortunate enough to get one.

yep, I remember those, as well as the robots that would do things like balance a spinning top on the edge of a sword.

Its still interesting to me how much of the stuff in the 80's Epcot isn't really outdated today...I have yet to see anywhere else that a robot draws a picture of you

Communicore had alot of cool stuff. I was just talking to my DS (18) about it the other day. Of course, he doesn't remember his trips to Communicore ;)

I think Disney really missed out on a great opportunity with Epcot's 25th. They could have bought alot of that stuff back & used the WoL pavillion or Millenium Village to house a Step Back in Time thing that celebrated Epcot thru the years.

DH and I were on our honeymoon and had our sketches made. The line to have them done was really long, but it was fun and we left with a great souvenier. We still have them. They are in our wedding album.
