Robbed at Gunpoint

My uncle is a Lt. Col. in the Army. He is currently working in Atlanta during the week and comes home to Alabama on the weekends. When he got off work last Thursday night, he went for a jog and then went to get something to eat. He still had on his running clothes and only carried his license, a credit card and a few bucks in cash. He went through the drive thru at Captain D's. While he was waiting to place his order at the speaker box, a guy dressed in a black hooded sweat shirt came up to his window and asked for his money. When my uncle said "What?", he put a gun to his chest and asked again. My uncle reached over and gave him the few bucks he had. The gunman then said "you gotta have more money than this". Maybe he said this because my uncle drives an older cadillac :confused3 My uncle told him "Look how I'm dressed man, I don't have anymore money". The guy ran behind my uncle's car, through the parking lot and into some trees. My uncle jumped out of the car and started pursuing him. When he ran by the D-T window, he yelled at the cashier what just happened and to call the police. He almost ran in the woods after the guy, but he realized that guy had a gun and he didn't. The cops arrived very fast and said there must be a gang working the neighborhood because that was the 5th call in that area in less than 10-15 minutes of the same thing happening.

My uncle was so mad. He said he didn't spend 2 years in Iraq to come home and be treated like this on his home soil. Against my aunt's wishes, he carried one of his pistols back to Atlanta with him. He said that would never happen again. All I can say is that I'm happy nothing happened to my uncle and the robber is very lucky my uncle was seated in car when that happened. Let's just say if my uncle had been standing, the robbery probably wouldn't have even been attempted, much less the guy getting away. :rolleyes1

That terrible, low life scum.

OMG... how scary. This happened at a McDonalds near our house and it just frightened me. I rarely do drive thrus at night anymore. At least your Uncle is safe and was not harmed.

That happened to a friend of mine in Memphis the other night. My friend does have a conceled weapon's permit and exchanged shots with the robber.

Unfortunately stories like these are pretty common.

He's had one for years...My aunt just doesn't like it.
Ah, good he's got one (license).
And as far as weapon, better to have one if you need it than not have it.
There's some sayin' that covers it, but I can't remember it :lmao:

That's terrible to be robbed. I don't think carrying a gun is a good idea, I'm with your aunt on that one.

Yeah, just the bad guys should be armed. I agree.

To the OP, I am glad your uncle is okay. How scary. I avoid the drive-thru at night because I worry about that happening.
