Roaring Fork Closure/Rehab?

I just read that RF will be closed Jan-March '06 for rehab. We'll be staying at Wilderness Lodge in January with a toddler, so this was a little upsetting to find out we won't have a counter service type place to eat a light meal.

When I called Disney, they had no info about the rehab, and neither did Wilderness Lodge when I called directly. The CM at WL did say that if RF is closed, they would definitely offer some other location to get counter service type food (i.e. waffles, burgers).

Anyone have experience with being at a resort during a rehab like this? Do they usually give you alternate choices for similar type food service? I know there's still Artist Point and WCC, but we'd like the option of a quick, cafeteria type place too.

Thanks :flower:

Please tell me this is not true!!! We are there with a party of 12 in January and were counting getting RF food several days for breakfast. Also, we wanted hot cocoa from there at night... :sad2:

Please tell me where you read this and when in January the rehab begins.

It's been posted in several threads; check the boards from a few days back. The word is that ther will be some Grab and Go alternatives, but of course, since the Villas are there, there's a mini-grocery store in the Mercantile, which some could use as an alternative. Luckily, we'll have a full kitchen, so we'll just be sure to do a full grocery trip at the beginning of our trip.

As for hot chocolate...the last time we were there in the winter you could get hot chocolate from a stand/cart type place in the lobby.

I would be upset if Roaring Forks was closed when we were there. We are going in August though, and I am looking forward to seeing the rehab. Hopefully they will add room and food choices.

I read on another site that it will close Jan. 9th and be closed till the end of March.

Oh no!!! Not Roaring Forks too. First Buzz, then Test-track, now this...my kids will never forgive me. Oh well.

Gee... you're taking them to Walt Disney World... how can they hold ANY grudge?!?!?! :)

I'm really bummed about this. We booked the dining plan and were planning on using our counter service meals for breakfast at Roaring Forks. Now I'm thinking I may be better off switching to another resort.

I feel your pain. No cocoa, no OJ, no use of refillable mugs. GACK! Do the Villas have a counter service option or since they have kitchens they figure you are on your own. The mercantile doesn't cut it since its WAY overpriced food you microwave or milk or bread, etc.

I LOVE WL too much to change at this time (we will be there in Feb). Better pack our own coffee.

Good Point :goodvibes , it was more of a joke though :rotfl: :rotfl:

I guess I am the one who is REALLY disapointed.

Hey guys-
I've called WL twice to see what answers I get. Both CMs told me there will be an alternate "grab and go" option somewhere while RF is closed. I'm pretty bummd about it, too, but we're pretty set on WL. I imagine that the other restaurants might change up a little to accomodate the void while RL is closed. :confused3 The CM wasn't sure where this "grab n go" would be, but she said it would be things like sandwiches, salads etc. What about the refillable mugs? Will there not be anywhere to get fountain drinks? :confused3 Hmmm, this does stink. :(

My guess is the "grab and go" location might be in the Territory lounge, since it would not be in use in the early morning hours. Like they use the Belle-vue room in the Boardwalk resort for selling breakfast items. I don't know about other times of the day.
I sure will miss RF, though.
