Does anyone know the roaming charges on a text message?

I used my phone over the weekend in Ohio last weekend and sent and received quite a few text messages but not sure what the costs might be.

I am with Bell. I tried the website and I couldn't find anythnig.

Thanks

Kim

I used my cell last month in WDW..I am also with Bell. I did receive and send quite a few texts...and used the web a few times to find phone numbers etc. Silly. On my last day I rec'd a text from Bell telling me I had used some BIG amount of Data...soo when I got home I called them. My usage was $798 worth!:scared1: I nearly had the big one. Because they quickly figured out that I didn't have much of a clue what I was doing......they reversed all but $100 of it. Next time-phone stays home!

Got too many grey hairs over that one!

Hence why I am with Pay as you Go (Rogers). I know I can't rack up a bill. I used my cell in WDW 2 weeks ago to call home. Just checked my cost & it was $12 ($2 per min).

In the past--we have put the Bell Florida plan on for $40...and that works perfectly. But with my I-Phone it can't be put on there..

I am also with Bell however I always purchase the Connect USA plan so it's good all across the USA and for us it's better since we drive down. This way we don't need to wait until we enter Florida to start making phone calls and it also gives me 100 minutes.

I also purchase a USA texting plan and I believe it costs me 25 cents to send them and it's free when someone texts me back, so it's a lot better then the roaming fees you can get when sending a text message while in the United States.

I am with Bell also and am wondering what the fees are for both plans?

Holy crow, Minnie56!! You're lucky they were willing to take some of it off.

Reminds me of that ongoing piece on Market Place last year about "Canada's Worst Cell Phone Bill". Seems like sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease, but not always.

We just got PC pay as you go. They advertise a US roaming add-on, haven't looked into it yet...

On Rogers they have plans you can get. For mine I can pay $10 and my data is good in the US and Canada and for $40 I get 75 minutes of airtime, roaming free :)

I forgot to mention the one negative thing about the Connect USA plan from Bell is that they always round up your minutes. For example if you spoke to someone for 3:35 seconds then they count it as using 4:00 minutes of 100 minute plan, so they don't count it as talking for that specifc amount of time on each call. Plus they don't send you a text message saying your minutes are almost up and etc, so you need to keep track of all the calls you make.

I'm with Rogers, and someone mentioned that I can call in when we are heading to the US and get on a plan where roaming is free? Is this the case? I guess anywhere long distance I heard was available, but I think that was from Canada calling to US.. I wasn't aware that you can buy the US plan and call in the US and avoid roaming charges. Anyways, I hope that there is no roaming charges on the Roger's phone that they are offering us.. but for $40 and get 75 minutes, that's pretty exhorbitant too.

Yeah, they really gouge you when you travel with your phone. The $40 for 70 min is outrageous but it's better than minnie56's $800 bill :scared1: and its only $0.57cents after 70 min. For data if you are on the $40 data add on then you can get all your data (500mb for me) available to you in the US for $10 for 1 month.

I guess the only other option would be to buy a phone down there and use that, but then I'd be without my BB Torch for 2 weeks and I don't think I could do it, I am a crackberry addict and no one wants to see me going through withdrawals at disneyland :rotfl2:
