RO Reservation update when rates released?

Yes, exactly. Quotes so far have been at holiday (I think that's the designation) 2019 rates. Odds are rates will change downward, unless bookings are for Easter break week(s).

It's so bizarre. When I called last night, like I said above, she said I'm locked in at my rate I booked at for my 2020 dates. Seems weird.

Then she quoted me the price for the same dates (5/6-5/15) if I were to book today and it was almost $500 more!!!
How would the price go up from Feb to now when they haven't released 2020 rates yet?

I feel like we are in for a bigger than normal increase next year, I'm betting around 7%.

@Farro and @Capitalangel

FWIW I pulled up my reservation email / deposit receipt from February. It doesn't say anything about the rate changing based on rack rates being released....just says price won't change as long as I don't make any changes. Good grief. I am more curious and impatient now than I was when I asked my original question this morning!! Of course, I am spending all this time wondering about the rack rate when I am really hoping it will be irrelevant in the long run....come on, discount codes :-)!!

So guest services called me because I was confused! :)

He also said the rate (room only) we booked was locked in. Will not increase when 2020 prices come out unless you change the dates or add/remove something.

So knowing that, I called back and switched to Yacht Club Water View for $700 less than Boardwalk Water View. I don't know how it works, but switching just the resorts with my existing reservation the price was $6100. If I were to have made a new reservation the price was $6500 (ish). Glad I booked back in Feb! Also, kept same reservation number and deposit just transferred.

We felt we would be stretching ourselves too thin with Boardwalk and money, I'm a bit sad, but oh well.

So hopefully everyone was right and these are the rates! Not that I won't be checking tuesday to see if there is anything better. ;)

good luck all!

So weird, I've been debating on whether or not I'm going to call and make a room only reservation, or just wait until the 18th. This has me thinking.

I can say that the rates for the same dates, same hotel/view I booked in February are now about $450 more if booked today!

I truly have no idea how they figure prices...

No matter what, I'm still logging on Tuesday to make sure I have the best deal I can get! :) (unless discounts come out eventually)

I don't know if the price will really stick....but I was told yesterday that my rate booked February 2019 for February 2020 wouldn't change if I left the reservation alone.....and that booking the same 6night AoA suite stay new yesterday would cost approx $300 more. We will see what happens next week....

Ok, I think I understand, rack rate will not change for you guys, if you end up paying rack rate, gotcha. Of course, if a promotion comes out then all that is nixed.

Right there with ya. We shall see what happens, will be booking yacht club for July 2020.

Updates?

So far, no emails that I owe more! I'm soooooo happy I booked early! My rates shot up!

@Capitalangel @3gr8boys @Sandiz08

I waited until the phone wait times went down, then I called and it's true!!! My rate didn't go up!!!

I'm so thrilled!!!!!!!!!!
Thats great. So if an offer comes out and you can apply to your reservation, would the percentage be off of your original booking or the current rate? Im learning new things everyday, wish we would've booked early but did not, due to uncertainty on dates.

I'm sure it would be the current rate. If I'm lucky enough that an AP discount comes out, I'll have to see if it beats my current rate that I booked at. Might be difficult because the rate increase was substantial.

Substantial alright, haha. Im seeing 50 to 80 dollars a night:crazy2:.

If a rate comes out that’s better then what you have booked you can call and have the special rate applied, if not, stay with what you have!

I couldn't invest the time to call today to ask if my rate/balance-due was unchanged from when I booked in February...but I did manage to look online...the cost for the same reservation matches what the CM quoted me last week as what the rate would be if I was booking new. Your update makes me even more hopeful that we will not be affected by the increase. At least if I don't manage to find a suitable discount down the road, I would know I got an early bird rack rate.

ETA I will call WDW tomorrow and report back if my results are different 8-)
