Rm only to a pkg w/ dining

Help! I thought I had this all figured out, but the cm I spoke with said things were much different.

I have a room only ressie and am interested in switching to a package to include dining. I thought I only had to purchase one base ticket to be able to add dining. (There are 4 of us and we all have non-expiring tickets from a previous vaca, so we don't need any new tickets.) The cm said EACH of our party needs to add a ticket and that the cheapest one day ticket is $75.62 per person. Is this correct? We were all really excited about adding dining but $300 on top of the dining charge is hard to swallow.

Any thoughts?

Yes. From what I've known, everyone has to be on the same plans to be on a package deal.....Same park passes, same dining plan etc.

Also, if you have a discounted rate, you'll have to pay rack rate. And everyone needs at least a one day ticket. That could change in 2008 and you might be required to purchase tickets for all the guests for the entire length of stay. Wouldn't that be a bummer?

That information is incorrect. No where did the OP mention he was adding FREE dining so he does not have to be paying rack rate to add a dining plan.
He could book any package rate special, or AAA rate package etc. and still get the dining plan. He DOES however need at least the base ticket for each person as he was told.

To be clear, the OP would have to book through a AAA travel agent to get a AAA discount on a package.

If it is with AAA you would have to go thru AAA to get a package. I was unable to add dining and keep my AAA room rate thru Disney CRO.

That is correct you have to book a AAA package through AAA. and you can get the AAA rate with a package AND dining through AAA, I was using AAA as an example, He could also use any code for which he qualified and still get the dining plan on a package with Disney, point I was making was he does not need to pay rack rate to get the regular, not free, dining package.

We did a package with dining even though we did not need the tickets. We are keeping the one-day tickets, and when we finish our current 10-day non-expiring tickets, we will use them as credit towards the next batch. I am confident of my ability to retain the tickets and not lose them, and I know we'll want more tickets in the future. So the package just resulted in giving Disney some more money now, rather than later. I also understand that when I upgrade the one-day ticket to a longer ticket later, I will be credited with the value of a one-day ticket *then*, not the amount that I paid for it.
