Looks like Riviera SV studio is not available to book a full week at 11 months. I've been looking at it for over a month now and it looks like it will require walking. Hoping it's not going to stay this way for now on.

It wasn’t hard to book a couple weeks ago. I’m guessing it’s because of the 4th falling into the window.

And last Thanksgiving it was super easy for me to book, as was a Tower Studio. It’s hard to see what will happen when everything settles down. But I’m guessing it booms right away at peak times but isn’t like BWV SV or AKV Value. I don’t even suspect it to be nearly as tight as CCV.

I think it could be the time of year…I got them at 11 months for January, Feb, and March without a problem…did only three nights, but the week was there.

For December, I did not walk and had to start with PV, but the waitlist came through by 10 months for our three nights.

We also own at CCV and its wide open for studios, even BCV is available.

Sure I’m speaking on average though not a particular point in time. CCV through all of fall is pretty difficult.

BCV usually doesn’t sell out right at 11 months since it’s older owners or owners who I bought for stays there. Similar to VGC which doesn’t ever sell out at 11 months really (except 1-2 days) but is gone by 11 months.

I agree, just seems odd that the SV studios are not available and BCV is still wide open. Maybe it's something to do with how they are declaring the Riviera rooms. I also think Disney lowed the point requirement for the summer months and that may have something to do with it. I like to reserve a studio at 11 months and usually switch to a 1BR right at 7 months so I can use some of my lower priced points. May need to switch strategies again.

I also wonder if demographic of owners matter here too. BCV is suspect on average is older owners (less likely to have school aged children) thus aren’t restricted to summer and holiday travel.

Maybe RIV with being newer has younger families with school aged children. Thus summer and holiday travel is more desired there.

RIV is going to also be a learning and evolving process with the restrictions. And, like walking, scarcity will drive earlier booking. Resale RIV owners have no option other than RIV. As you get more and more resale owners over time, I predict at some point, Duos, Std Studios will become booked at 11 months year round. Within 10 years, I would not be surprised if even pref studios are not booked at 11 months year round. The unintended result of resale restrictions, even on direct RIV buyers.

Functionally BCV and VGC are both like RIV. Anyone buying resale there is buying it with the exclusive intention of doing so in the 7-11 month window. While yes they have the option to go outside of their resepective resorts, I just would think you likely find that they do so (resale owners).

I don't expect a doom and gloom situation, I just expect RIV to be difficult to trade into if the number of resale points increases.

While I agree, most resale buyers at the “premium resorts” buy with the intent of using there. With maybe an occasional AUL, or other resort stay. But the difference is, if they happen to not get what the want at BCV or VGF they may be disappointed and “commit to doing better next time”, they do not totally lose the point or be forced to booking a 1BR at 2x the points. The RIV owners “will never let that happen again”. The commitment to booking at 11 months will be much stronger.
