Riviera Saved My Vacation

Glad Riviera had the pixie dust to fix your situation! Having said that, we have a trip booked for June at GF (first time there). Without having to relive the situation, is there anything we should be concerned about?

Here’s the thing. I stayed at GF last year and had a great time, and had a great room. This trip was totally different.

My room had a view of the boat marina so there was this speaker outside my room playing music that I could hear from inside my room. Then, my tub looked dirty, and what appeared to be mold/mildew stains on it.This may sound weird, but my closet door and bathroom door was sticky. My dinner at Gasparilla’s made me sick. Then, I woke up at 7:30 to loud banging and screaming from the room next to mine. It was normal family Disney noise, but it was SO LOUD. I don’t blame the family at all. Kids will be kids, but the walls were so thin.

I don’t like to complain. I was going to make the best of it, but I just got to a point where I just wanted to move. I’ve stayed at Riviera before and enjoyed it, so I asked to be moved there.

Annette at Riviera was absolutely amazing. When I got there, my info hadn’t been transferred like the GF said it would, so she asked me to have a seat in the lobby. She came over with her iPad and just was so kind. She asked me about myself and my trip, and took care of literally everything. My room was ready at noon, only an hour after I arrived. It’s beautiful and clean and wonderful. AND, my transfer got me a serious credit to my account, which I plan on remedying. :p

I never received any kind of apology from anyone at the GF. The response I got about the noise was, “Well, we are next to Magic Kingdom”.... I never complained about boat or park noise.

I'm glad you requested a change as that situation at GF was unacceptable. I've had one great stay at GF before and am returning in a few weeks, but if I had the room conditions you described, I would politely demand a new room even before unpacking, so I'm glad you did and that Disney gave you satisfaction. GF is expensive so there is absolutely no need to put up with any of that.

The Riviera is a fantastic resort, isn't it? So beautiful and new and the rooms feel more luxurious than the average Disney deluxe resort room. Love the pool and the view from the pool deck especially. Topolino's is wonderful, too.

Yes! Riviera is amazing. I spent the afternoon just relaxing in my very quiet, clean room and had a shower with that amazing rainfall shower. I kept having to remind myself that I’m paying less for that room.... haha

I already know I won’t want to leave.
