Hi all,
How difficult is it to secure points rental for a deluxe studio at Riviera. This would be an 8 night stay ***************. Just wondering if this was doable?

Right now, under half of RIV has been declared into DVC inventory. The rest of the rooms are available to be booked with cash through Disney. That will change when more points are sold.

In addition to there being a limited number of rooms, there is also a very limited number of RIV owners who are renting out their points. Factor in the popularity of renting studios, high interest in booking DVC's newest resort and the week that you've chosen being a high-demand week for DVC members and I would put chances of a rental very low.

That’s what I was worried about. Out of curiosity, why are only a few Riviera owners renting their points?

Your chances would improve by going directly thru an owner.

The brokers usually don’t have enough inventory to cover the most popular resorts, so you’ll go on a waitlist until they get more RIV points. By that time availability will be hard to find 8 consecutive days.

Best bet is to find a RIV owner renting points around the 11 month mark.

Thanks all for your responses. Much appreciated. Does anyone have an idea of what DVC studios would be easy to rent for my dates? I guess i was looking towards Riviera for skyliner/Epcot access while being new and updated. The other DVC I was looking at was Grand Floridian for the monorail access which would also be nice. Thoughts?

Your biggest issue is time you want, Dec 1-9, 2022. That is the highest DVC demand time of the year (makes Easter look like the slowest of off-seasons). Owners of each particular resort can make reservations for up to 7 nights beginning 8 a.m. at 11-months out from date of arrival. During the time you want, studios at Riviera, particularly tower and standard studios, and to some degree preferred studios, can disappear within nanoseconds after 8 a.m. at 11 months out. Many Riviera owners cannot even get them and the winners are simply those whose computers communicate fastest with Disney's computers at that initial booking time. In other words, even if you can find a Riviera owner who will do a rental does not mean you will get the reservation you want.

Note that is also problem for many other resorts for that Dec time period: VGF studios, Boardwalk standard view and boardwalk view studios and sometimes pool/garden view studios, BLT standard view studios and sometimes Theme Park view studios, CCV studios, and AKV value and club level studios. With others you should have a little more time to reserve but you will still need an owner who can reserve using the 11-month reservation window.

VGF will be adding 200 studios...eventually. Definitely not at 11 months in advance of your dates and definitely not all at one time. That leaves 47 studios for owners to fight over for the time that you expect to go. I'd say that your chances are poor at 11 months out, but may increase when VGF2 goes on sale and additional studios are declared into the condo association.

Your absolute best chances will be at SSR, OKW and Poly (believe it or not!) because those resorts have a large number of studios. AKV-Kidani is also a contender due to the large number of owners there. But regardless, the nights you want are extremely popular and will have a higher degree of difficulty compared to a low-demand period like late-August.
