Has anybody been to Cancun/Maya Riviera in late October?

Barring a hurricane, which of course is always possible, I am wondering what the normal conditions are like. Can it be super hot and hazy... or is it often bright and clear???

Thanks if anyone has any input!

Was in Riviera Maya in 2007 in Oct. It was in the high 80's and humid. The evenings were very nice. It was a bit more cloudy than other times of the year. A quick shower here and there.

We just made sure we had the insurance in case of a storm. It actually worked out great since the insurance was a price guarantee. When the price dropped, we got the difference:thumbsup2

Great deals in that area right now. We went a few weeks ago. $520, 4 nights, all inclusive, incl flights, and airport transfers.

Wow, you went a few weeks ago!!!

Where did you stay?

I am looking at Maroma beach, which I suppose is more expensive.
Even in October we are looking at over $800.00pp

Thanks!!!

When we went in 2007, We stayed at the Catalonia Riviera Maya. It was around $800 for 4 nights.

This time was Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. I meant to type 3 nights, for the $520.

Have a great time.

We were booked to go in May and had to cancel due to the flu restrictions. We were going to stay at Iberostar Paraíso Maya. I have been to Cancun twice during the month of October and both times we had beautiful weather, very hot.

Are you looking at Secrets Maroma Beach?

Thanks everyone!

Yes, Secrets is one place.
There is a lot that I might LOVE about Secrets Maroma... but a couple of concerns as well. (the bathroom setup .... atmosphere when halfway crowded... probably fine if not a lot of younger 'rowdier' gueats...)

I also just noticed the Valentin Imperial for a good bit less. I am wondering if that is just up the beach from Maroma... Not quite on that spectacular strand.... but very close. I am going to do more research!!!

I went to traveler photos on tripadvisor, and paged back to October of last year.
There was indeed a noticable difference in the heavier cloud cover, sunshine not as strong, etc...

Looks like we may not be able to make this trip this year...
But, sigh... if not, I can still dream!!!

Would love to go back to Mexico but Im VERY worried about the drug violence down there. I would never forgive myself if I took the kids and something happened. But I just loved that trip, everthing was just so beautiful and the food was awsome. Id give anything to get to go back but Im just scared to go. :confused3

We went in early October.... FABULOUS weather except for on day with a nasty storm. Stayed at what was then a brand new resort - Bahia Pricipe.... Imagine our suprise when we got there and found out it was perfectly acceptable for women to go topless on the hotel property, and they looked the other way at nude bathers if the went to the far side of the resort on the beach.

My wife was taken aback at first, but she got over it in a few hours.

I quite enjoyed myself. :thumbsup2

We haven't been in October, but we went during swine flu in May. What a great trip! No one in the airports or the resort. We stayed at Akumal Beach Resort. Very small and low key but the best snorkeling. Perfect for us as we don't like the bigger, fancier places. It was our first time there, but we will go back some day. Thinking of Catalonia Royal Tulum for next trip.

So far the drug violence isn't in the areas we are discussing. Not saying that won't change, but so far so good. There are areas in Mexico that we won't visit either. Just like there are areas that are 30 minutes from where I live that I won't go into. or areas of the US that I wouldn't add to my top places to visit. KWIM?
