Riviera direct price increase Jan 2020

I know this will never happen, but I would love to see some incentives for add-ons of 100 points. I know they are trying to lure new buyers with bigger point contracts, but for those of us who would only consider a small add-on, the incentives don't seem very enticing. ($300 off on the 125 - 150 range is almost nothing)

Well, it's not just about luring bigger buyers. With the increased point requirements at a resort like Riviera, which will presumably be similar at Reflections, small contracts don't get someone far even banked/borrowed, and just make for more unhappy buyers who can't get Tower Studios when that's all they have points on.

I'm thinking they believe that the resort opening will really boost sales and if it doesn't they are in a position where they can alter the incentives at the time of the price increase to negate the increase. I think the resort opening will give them a boost. How big and for how long is the question.

I went over yesterday and walked around and I have to say I loved it. I didn’t see the rooms but just found the atmosphere wonderful. Lots of people there too. Lobby was full of people checking in.

I can see some new buyers being enticed for sure!

Since they're increasing the direct price more than the inflation rate, again. I'd say they're not too concerned about sales and how resale restrictions are affecting them. I don't think the resale restrictions are going anywhere.
Or they are trying to entice some more sales in the next month by saying oh you want to jump in now prices are going up in a month, don't wait! A month is pretty advanced warning.

Makes me also wonder if this also means another increase for sold out resorts?? I havent heard anybody ask this question to their guides...

I have, just last week. They stated they don't foresee it happening anytime soon and if it does, they will try to give me a heads up.

HTH!

When we did our tour in October, our Guide said there would be a Riviera price increase likely after it opened. He equated it to the price increase of the other resorts so I don’t think they’ll increase with this round.

True. We currently have 295 points at AKV (220 + 75), and I just can't justify too many more given our travel pattern for the foreseeable future. Dues would be bordering on excessive.

Yes, I agree. Remember Disney does not want Rivera sold out before they can start direct sales for Reflections, as that would leave them only with Aulani to push.

So, there is no rush until then, espcially since they have lots of options to adjust things down the road,
I disagree, there is always a rush. They started selling Riv a year before it opened; it is basic finance that if you can take $x today vs $x over three years you take it today. Also no investor is going to hammer disney because sales are down because the product is so good it is selling faster than they can build.
Doesn't mean they are panicking but selling out before reflections is good not bad

Disney has had the model for a long time of always have something in active sales. I am basing it on that. It is also possible that RIV went on sale as early as it did because CCV was selling well and would be sold out,

I am not suggesting that they would try to halt sales, but rather could be content with how things are going at this point since they don’t have something else to take its place.

IMO, the fact they raising the price could mean sales are doing okay...at least from Disney’s view.
