"Rivet" bathing suits not allowed at waterparks?

A co-worker recently gave me his copy of a WDW guidebook from 2015. In it, the book states that both TL and BB have a rule that states no bathing suits with any metal pieces or rivets are allowed. What exactly do they consider a "rivet?"

All my son's bathing suits have little round plastic circles on the front for the strings, like this:

Are these going to be a problem? There is a mom and pop water park near us and they don't even allow these plastic circles. It's getting to the point where we haven't been to that park in years because I simply can't find bathing suits for my son that DON'T have them anymore. They said it was because it could remove the paint from the slides. Yet...I know of no slide where you go down on your front without some sort of raft or mat, and most slides have large rafts that you sit upright in anyway, so that no part of your body should be touching the slide, let alone the front of your waist.

Can anyone clarify this for me?

Plastic should be no problem. It is metal that they worry about scratching the slides. Almost all men's swim trunks have those little circles for the strings. They should not pose any kind of problems at all.

I really can't imagine a water park banning those. So many swim trunks have them. I was under the impression that the exposed metal was more common on ladies' swimwear as style elements.

Ok, so by "rivets" they mean the metal pieces that look like snaps? I always thought that local waterpark had ridiculously strict rules and was hoping that WDW wasn't like that. Our local park prohibits any metal or plastic pieces and even has examples hanging in the lobby area, showing that exact type of bathing suit that my son has. If you come with those little plastic circles on your suit they will make you cut them out with scissors or buy one of their suits! We haven't been back in years, so I wonder if they are having difficulties or have relaxed their rules now that almost all boy's and men's bathing suits have those.

Your local park is run by nutters. Just FYI there.

Generally I've never been anywhere that prohibits plastic or metal parts on actual swim wear. What places are generally probiting is wearing jean cutoffs or something like that- zippers, snaps, buttons are hardier and could either get caught causing injury or scrape up the slides. So as long as your kids are wearing SWIMWEAR, it's fine.

The only thing I noticed at Disney is that that they are pretty strict on swim shoes. I think you have to take slippers off and hold them against your chest.

That suit will not be a problem at all. They are concerned about the metal rivets that are on some womens swimsuits.
