Would you change from Yacht Club Water view to a Riverside Royal Guest Room River view if you could save $560? I really like the idea of walking to Epcot and HS but we want to eat at DS 4 times so wonder if having the boat to DS is worth it.

I would stick with Yacht Club water view. Being able to walk to two parks saves a lot of time, and the water view is worth spending a little extra money. I love sitting on the balcony and enjoying the gorgeous view. Also, YC opens up a lot of dining possibilities with the Boardwalk, Epcot and DHS all within minutes.

If you want to save money, stay at the Yacht club and downgrade to a standard view. Otherwise just stick with the yacht club room you have.

I'd stick with the YC. We had reservations for a royal room reserved for our trip the end of this month and moved to POFQ due to recent reports on the refurbishments at POR. A lot depends on when you're going, but right now they just moved to the mansions area recently and the royal rooms are the last to be done. For our trip, that meant they may well have been in the process of refurbishing those rooms or be very close to them, so we'd most likely be dealing with some construction issues and/or be in a non-refurbished rooms. I just didn't want to take the chance. If you want to spend a lot of time at DS, I'd Uber. But the proximity to Epcot and HS more than makes up for the distance to DS to me. We're actually splitting our stay between POFQ and the YC, so best of both worlds! I'd suggest reading the last few weeks posts in the POR thread before making a decision.

We stayed at POR in August. YC was $800 or so more. We had stayed at both resorts before. Our room at POR was nice and clean, and we enjoyed the QS and Boatwright's. Buses were good too. But I wished I'd spent the extra $$ and went for YC.

YC, not a fan of POR. YC is one of my favorite resorts, and you can walk to EPCOT or boat to HS. Boardwalk is right across the lagoon.

I don't understand why people love POR so much, I just didn't care for it. It was just okay to me, I wasn't impressed.

1000000% stay at YC. I recently stayed in both, POR is beautiful, but those royal rooms need to be gutted and redone sometime soon. YC is easily my favorite resort on property, and getting to DS was never an issue from there.

Thank you all. We stayed at FQ once and loved it so we thought maybe Riverside would be nice to try but sounds like we would be best staying with YC.

Another vote for Yacht Club. The boat from POR to Disney Springs is a solid 25 minute ride, plus the time it takes to wait for the boat and stop at POFQ to pick up more passengers. It can easily be a 45 minute commute, and the boats run less frequently during the day time. I would not choose POR solely for the Disney Springs boat - its just another transportation option, but not a faster or more convenient one.

Depends on what you want to do, the proximity of Epcot and HS is really nice for Yacht. The refurb'd rooms are shiny and new but I hate the new flooring, it's really loud and it makes the sound carry especially from adjoining rooms. I really liked the room at Riverside and would stay there again, but I wasn't a fan of the bus system - it's the first time we stayed in a resort that had to circle the entire resort before it left. With all the stops it added to delays and full buses at peak times.

Stormalong bay is far and away my favorite pool on property though, having access to that is alone worth the price difference. They were refurbishing Magnolia when we were just there (we were in Oak) and we didn't notice any construction noises, we saw them working and walking all over the place but it was quiet.

That’s exactly why I changed from POR. From many reports, they waited a bit long to update them.

You can't really compare a Deluxe to a Moderate. I mean, POR is my favorite Moderate but it's no Yacht Club. The question is, can you afford it?

I understand that and affording it isn't the question but every thing you do in life has to have a break point that would make you think, is the savings worth it??? That is the question for me. I could do the Christmas Party and After Hour Party with that extra money but I don't want to be miserable also. I am not a fan of Disney Transportation so we choose Yacht Club to avoid as much of it as we can. I normally get a rental but for a quick 5 days trip I figure a rental and the cost of parking isn't justified.

YC! Our water view room at YC has been our favorite Disney stay to date!!! For reference we have also stayed at the Poly, BC, AKL, POR, CSR, and Pop. Sitting on the balcony at YC and overlooking the Boardwalk was such a magical way to begin and end our day. We also were able to see Illuminations. If we could justify it, we would stay water view at the YC every trip. Go and enjoy!

Would anybody change from YC to GF? We are staying at GF for one night but if we change we would be able to stay the entire time their but I hate to give up the close proximity to Epcot and HS
