Riverside or French Quarter?

We've done both recently and we prefer French Quarter! Much smaller and still have access to the river. We loved the brick on the sidewalks, the beignets in the food court, and the overall atmosphere at French Quarter. One thing I did like about Riverside better was having more than one pool, but you can just walk over there and use their pools because they are sister resorts.

Both are great, can’t go wrong with either. I have a pref for Riverside. I love the mansion section and that they are all river front. It’s so relaxing strolling along the river. The buildings are a bit more spread apart and the landscaping is amazing. Riverside is more country, FQ is more burbs being more compact. So landscaping is more manicured while Riverside is more lush. Most of the FQ buildings are set back in the resort rather than being along the riverfront.

I prefer Riverside. I've only been to either resort by myself, or with another adult friend and the FQ pool is heavily geared towards young kids; Riverside has quiet pools in addition to their themed pool. I also just liked the look of Riverside better (I stayed in the Acadia building.) I did like how FQ had the beignets, but it's a short walk from Riverside (and a good way to burn off some of the calories!)

Do you have any idea if the refurb is going to be anything like they're doing with Pop? The Murphy bed is a big turn off since it has to be up if we want to use a table. I like having a table in my room , but don't like what's being done at Pop.
The murphy bed that converts to a table is in the DVC resorts and family suites, not POR. They have a separate table.

We have stayed at POR twice. The only thing I don't like about it is it can be a long walk to the pool and food. It's pretty spread out.
This coming year we are trying POFQ. I think by looking at the pictures the only thing I'm not real thrilled with is the pool. I think the pool would be great for little ones, we do not have any little ones.

You can always walk over and use the pools at POR. We didn't really like the pool too much at POFQ, but we also only used it once.

I have never walked the path between the two resorts. Is it a long walk?

No it's not bad at all! We stayed at POFQ before POR and never walked over to POR. This year we stayed at POR instead to see the difference and ended up walking over to POFQ because we liked it better and wanted some beignets. I think you could easily walk over to POR from POFQ to go swimming. We liked the small pools in the mansion section (only about 5 people when we first got there). It's just DH and I so we don't care about theming when it comes to the pool, but would rather have a nice place to cool off and swim compared to cold Midwest weather in February.
