Hi: Do the rooms at the riverside have coffeemakers, or can you request one free of charge from housekeeping.

Thanks,

Deb.

It's funny you ask! I had always heard they do not. However, I was pleasantly surprised my 2nd day that a 4 cup coffee maker arrived. I'm not sure if they just happened to start putting them in rooms or if it was another housekeeping "surprise" for tipping. Unfortunately the coffee that came with it was AWFUL. So you would want to go out ant buy some if you planned on using it. I preferred getting a refillable mug and making the walk in the morning to get coffee...it was MUCH better and a pleasant way to start the morning. Don't forget to bring a pocket full of crackers/cereal to feed the ducks/Ibis on the way :)

I was in the AB rooms building 28 from March 19th - 26th, did anyone else get a coffee maker?

Thanks for the tip about the ducks, I love animals, are there alot there.

Also how was the room condition?

Deb.

There were many along the shore on the AB to the main lodge. Even a bunch of ducklings. There were a lot of White Ibis that you could hand feed as well, very tame birds but a little more stand-offish than the ducks. There was one female that would eat cereal right off my knee when I set it there. There are a lot of pigeons too but I prefer not to feed them. The stay away pretty much unless you toss the food out then they will come by the scores. There was a rabbit that seemed to be a regular by our building as well. Our last day I saw a hawk that seemed to be attacking a duck, swooping at it and such. I also heard there were otters by one of the bridges but I never saw them. There were a few rather larger birds that could be seen hanging around but I don't know what they were.

The room condition was pretty good. The only problem I saw was the wallpaper in the bathroom seems to be coming loose. I believe this is because of the way the stupid fans work in there, they are motion activated. So the whole time you are in the shower the room steams up pretty good. The rest of the room was clean and tidy and didn't show much wear.

Regarding AWFUL coffee...I think it is the water in the whole area that is awful, leading to awful coffee. Because FL is basically a huge swamp/sand bar, the water undergoes some pretty serious treatment. I recommend buying H2O at the grocery store for a really good cup of coffee. BTW, several years ago Disney signed a contract with Nestle (I believe) to use Nescafe everywhere on property except the Kona Cafe, and select expresso carts in Epcot. Don't know if this is still true or not...hate to pay Disney prices (or any prices) for INSTANT!
