Rivers of light

Hmmm...I thought it was TWO credits if using DDP...does it depend on what plan you are on??...I'm on the basic plan for after Thanksgiving (1 snack,1 QS and 1 TS)...I know that the CLP at Epcot is two credits...trying to decide how to best use my credits and which package to pay with cash...

Sorry. What I wrote was very misleading. I should have said that it's still the same amount as a normal meal at those restaurants. So if you would be interested in eating there anyway, it won't cost you anymore credits to do the rivers of light package instead.

Sorry

I agree with the dining package. Especially if you're on the DDP it's a good value. Still just one credit.

The show is beautiful and worth seeing. Unfortunately it's hard for a show to live up to an hour wait or more. If you could walk up or wait 20 minutes it would really be a good show.

It's not a 'spectacular' like some of the others. But it does seem appropriate for the spirit of AK.

I really disagree that it isn't 'spectacular' like the others!! I would definitely put it ahead of Illuminations and Fantasmic. We saw it twice last week with FP's.

But a word of warning - you 'can't' go by just getting there when your FP says to arrive. They start letting you in 'way' early, which makes you sit forever (unless you don't care where you sit). Also, our first night, we asked the CM's opinion on which seats were most comfortable - stone or metal (whatever they were) and they said stone, so we sat on the second row. The stones hold the heat of the sun which was OK that night as it got quite chilly, but the next time it was 'hot' (97*) during day and we opted to sit a little higher (not on stone) and liked it better there.

We loved, loved the show!

We did the dining package for this past Sunday, 4/30. I'm glad we didn't use a fastpass on it. It was, visually, engaging I suppose but I can guarantee I will not spend the time or effort to see it again soon. I was bored within the first 5 minutes and walked away wondering how that could be the final product.
Agree - it was a one and done for us.

IMO it's easier to justify long waits for a show instead of rides. Shows last for 15+ min and if you want to can eat a quick service meal while you wait. Maybe it's just me but I would never wait an hour for a ride lasting 1 min or less. I rarely will get in line for 30 min.

I agree about rides. There's rarely a reason to wait over 20 minutes. In that sense, the "value" of time waited is higher for the shows. But we had a FPP, and still arrived almost 1.5 hours early at recommendation of CMs that day. (Earlier in RoL run). It was a long wait for what turned out to be a good, not quite great show.

I thought it was beautiful. When I said 'not spectacular' it was a poor attempt to convey the idea that it's not a big, noisy, spirited show. It's quite appropriate for AK and it's vibe, just a lot different than what some might expect from a night time show.

I'm usually a last row on the end type of person - actually prefer the back and don't care about sitting in middle or closer to front. With an FP, do you still think we need to be at ROL 45 min early?

Depends on how important it is for you to see it. If you really want to, then I'd arrive 30-45 min ahead. If not really but wouldn't mind seeing it, arrive 15-30 min before. Taking more of a gamble but still should be fine

We did the Tusker House lunch dining package and saw the show on 5/1. We arrived around 8:45 for the 9:15 show and there were little seats left for the dining package area. I was completely bored and almost falling asleep a few times. This show has no repeat value at all compared to Fantasmic! In other words, I saw it once, it was kind of cool, I will never see it again. The only way I see myself going again is if it is changed to something different.

One last thing, the problem I see with using a fastpass for this or any late show, is unless you happen upon the fastpass late in the day, it is a complete waste and blocks you from booking anything else after your three are used up. Of course, if you don't care and would rather wait in long standby lines, cool beans.

Tusker House is 1 credit, Tiffins is 2. It's the same number of credits as without the package.

How far ahead of show time was it that they started letting you in?

Thanks!

We 'sat' for over an hour and we were 'not' the first ones to go in - it was way before the time listed on our FP. We were sitting by the water at Flame Tree Bar B Q and noticed people sitting already across from us, so we went on over.

We really 'loved' the show, but all that sitting (like Fantasmic) will keep us from seeing it more than once in our future trips.

We were very excited. Had FP for show. Even with the FP sat for 50 minutes. It was a nice show but I have to agree with others. While we enjoyed it, definitely was a once and done for us. The show was good but it was a very long wait with a FP for a 15 minute show.

They open it up about 1.5-2 hours prior to showtime

Yes, and trust me, the people start filing in!!! Were just there - if we had waited until the time listed on our FP, we would have had a poor choice of seats!

That's way too long, but don't know what the solution would be. If they waited until 45min. before, then the people would just start a long, long line outside (think Fantasmic!!). Just a catch -22 :(

I think I've got everything timed right for ROL. We have the dining package with a 6:35 at Tusker House, then a 7:45 FP for the Safari and then straight on over to ROL. Hopefully we will still be able to get 6 seats together by the time we get over there. Just depends on if the rhino wants to stand on the road or move on out of the way! LOL
