Rivers of Light Questions

We are going in Mid-May and was wondering if people on the boards think it will be ready by then. Any thoughts on what time the show would be. Animal Kingdom is a park that usually closes early 5. Would they keep the park open to, say 8 or 9 for the show.

Everything is speculation,but RoL should be running by then.

The "rumor" is it will run 2 times on weekdays and 3 times on weekends.

With RoL,Night Safari and Avatarland all coming to DAK,I'm expecting DAK to routinely stay open until at least 9:00 PM every night with later closes some nights,but again just speculation.

I'm also looking for the "possible" return of PM EMH.

Exciting times for DAK.

I expect it will be more like DHS. So could be as early as 7pm close in the winter. or as late as 10pm in the summer.

Josh (easywdw) recently released his May calendar - in the notes he mentions that a starting date for RoL isn't obvious yet as he expects the park to be open later once that comes online. Park hours can change - I expect once they know when everything will be ready they'll do a big announcement and alter the calendars accordingly. That said I hope it opens in May - we'd love to see it (if they have SWW in May this year and we're down there!)

I've been looking for info on this too since we are going in May. I wish they would go ahead and announce it as it could greatly alter our plans/ADRs especially if the Rivers of Lights isn't a nightly thing.

The night time safari should be coming about the same time as rivers of light

Thats exactly how I feel. Our 180 is coming up soon and not sure where and when to book dinner the night we go to AK.

We're going August of next year and I think I am most excited about this and the nighttime safari! I LOVE animal kingdom and Im looking forward to spending a whole day there. Riding Everest at night will most likely be amazing as well.

It should be great being able to be at Animal Kingdom into the night, especially with nighttime safari as I heard there could be additional animals specifically added for the nighttime excursion.

I was wondering how would Disney transportation hold up if the closing time for AK is around the same time as all of the other parks, especially nights when Epcot and Magic Kingdom close at 9 pm? I always thought they stagger each parks closing time so they have enough buses to take guests back. Seems like the bus network may be stretched thin due to all of the parks having nighttime shows now.

It should be great being able to be at Animal Kingdom into the night, especially with nighttime safari as I heard there could be additional animals added specifically for the nighttime safari.

The newest exhibit that hasn't been completed yet (it's really close to done) is for hyenas. It'll be to the left once you enter the savannah where the giraffes are.

Some really interesting tidbits hinted at there. It reminds me very much like some of the night time shows at Tokyo's Disney Sea. They put anything in the US parks to shame. If its anything like TDS, it should blow everyone's socks off.

Aggghhhh!!! We're going April 2-13 and I had totally written off the possibility of seeing it, but now soft openings maybe?? I'm so hoping.

A lot of times ALL 4 Parks OPEN at the same time (9:00 AM) and they have enough buses for that so they should be fine with DAK closing later.

I wouldn't count on it. I suspect they won't announce much till VERY close. They didn't with New Fantasy Land or with Mine Train. Things just started slowly having soft openings and a formal announcement was quite slow in coming. I'm thinking they honestly don't have a clue when something is going to be "ready for prime time" until after the soft openings begin.
