Rivers of Light Cast Member Previews start this weekend

According to Disney, both previews are open to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Cast Members only. Operating Participants and vendors were not included at the time of the announcement. Has that officially changed?

Is there any word on if there will be fast passes available for this? My trip is coming up and I want to be ready to change some plans if so.

There were plenty of live reviews coming during the show on twitter and there are now written reviews. Best to read a few since some seem to be more objective. Reports were it was delayed for technical difficulty and then after it started two barges bumped causing an issue. The consensus from most who saw it - highly technical, beautiful music, beautiful costumes, a good fit for AK BUT still has technical bugs to be worked on, has no real story, no wow moments and many used the word boring saying they hope this is not a final product.

Edit: my initial response was based on your post. Reading more reviews, I'm feeling more optimistic. We actually wouldn't mind a lack of story and would enjoy a good technical show. My son will love the animals.

I was expecting Disney to go with non Disney characters and storytelling on this one. I remember that one of the main concerns with Jungle Book was that they didn't use the characters and I was completely fine with that but knew a lot of people wanted more Disney in it. I actually liked the JB show (I know, one of the few) and I knew this was the direction the were taking with RoL, it doesn't all need to be Disneyfied even at a Disney park (I'm sure this will be debated to death here) I'm looking forward to the show. The lack of closing "wow" moment is what's more concerning to me, since they usually do a good job at that, but, as with everything Disney, I will go into it with an open mind

I have been patiently waiting as we are going on the 27th. I really hope it ends up showing that week since it is xmas week. I purposely changed our FP till all before 5 just in case.

DISNEY announced the show will open in 2017. Blogs are just sharing public official news.
While they announced more specific time frame for other things, all ROL got was 2017.
