Rivers of Light by the end of October?!?

Huh, look at that. People all freaked out and took Disney hours as gospel. The fool claimed Disney gave up on nighttime.

It's ok - we believed you all along :thumbsup2

Surprised even others here (podcast, etc) seemed to take it as well

I think we can all agree Motley Fool is not a good source of Disney news.

I always thought they would extend hours. It's interesting to note they also extended hours at DHS and extended the Star Wars fireworks. (Probably should have all this in the news thread.)

Actually, it's hard not to dismiss ANY rumor about this show now. "I hear it'll start in October" "I hear it'll start in November." It's all BS until they get all the problems out. As I said, extremely unlike they schedule anything until it is 100% ready to go, and even then I could picture them running soft opening trials for a few weeks. Once summer has passed, there's no real pressure to get it rolling until the Christmas season.

"Christmas season" is a floating window these days...the October crowds are much greater than years ago...November has some spikes...and the near constant onslaught of Halloween and Christmas parties keeps the operational calendar crunched.

Honesty...unless they get it up by 10/1...it might make better sense to wait until after January

Well @lockedoutlogic I specifically talking about the Thanksgiving - Christmas crowds. I'll agree that fall crowds aren't as low as they used to be, but I still don't think they compare to the Christmas - New Years crowds. I doubt they would bring the show out in January - the one true "slow" time of the year anymore.

I didn't say January...I was thinking march.

In a bizarre way...the holiday crunch is the WORST time to add new things...the place is overstuffed and any additions is like bbs at an elephant. It's pointless...just lIke going anywhere near the place then ;)

They've reduced star wars fireworks to 4 nights a week in October and no one things it will go back to daily until the week of thanksgiving. Of course that's all just speculation because while it was mentioned as possible, I don't think anyone one the big star wars thread on the theme park board actually thought it wouldn't be daily. I'm not going to hold my breath that ROL will be there the first part of November, not even crossing a finger, I'm so far past thinking it will ever start that we've changed our AK night to Epcot.

ON the main rumor page - there is reported testing of Rivers of Light after park closing.

They have been testing after park close even when jungle book was still going on. The new rumors suggest this is now going to be full cast Rehersals which means the show is nearly ready to go.

If this is in fact full cast rehearsals, wouldn't all of the tech issues have to be worked out? At least there would have to be no issues in regards to technology that could potentially end up getting someone hurt (e.g. if there are people on the barges and they can't control where the barges go, that wouldn't be very safe for the performers).

Yes it is assumed that tech issues are fixed since WDI has handed the show over to park operations.

Assuming. Big assumption. All goes well and there are no major technical issues - typical shows are 1, 2, or 3 weeks of rehearsals? Don't imagine much longer would it be?

I'm really holding on to some hope that they will at least be doing some sort of soft opening by our trip...but we are just a little more than 30 days out, so it would have to move forward pretty quickly at this point!

With everything that is being reported in the last couple days I would say there is a very good chance for you.

I've been following along since like March and remember how upset all the people who were planning to go when it was first scheduled to open were when it didn't, so for now I'm just looking at it as an added bonus for our trip of it's ready...but I love AK and would LOVE to see this show!

We're at 15 days. Hope is slim for us, but we're still crossing our fingers.
