I have very mixed feelings on this date of 2/12. That is our planned AK date and I am terrified of the large crowds that will show up if this is the opening date!

It doesn't sound like they'll make an announcement about it, so it will likely only be people who follow these types of things online and are able to get there who will crowd the park that day.

I hope that is true! I would love to see it but if it is made public, the crowds will drive my hubby crazy! LOL!

Bah. Nuts. I took off the 10-15 to go swimming with the manatees and now I am wondering if I should book a WDW stay for the 12th and go swim with the manatees on the 13th.

Yes, that's what I meant. They won't want to have a lot of publicity as others have pointed out given that their first attempt at a public launch failed.
