Never thought I would want it and did a complete turn around. Resale value has never been part of my equation. While I have benefited from a robust market selling and rebuying, I would have still done what I have done, just on different timelines.

I currently have 8 trips booked between now and next February and every one has RIV booked as part of my split stay!

Yes, I love it. Added on direct after buying resale for the perks and to be able to stay at Riviera and future resorts. I think the resort is beautiful, and love the rooms - especially that pull-down murphy bed in place of the standard lumpy, old pull-out couch. My regular travel party is 3 adults, so the typical studios and 1 bedrooms just do not work for us with those sofa beds. Plus the skyliner, and proximity to two parks, it was a pretty easy decision for me to buy there.

I really liked all the original artwork they added to the rooms it really gives it a classy Disney touch. I wish the lobby wasn’t so smelly it makes me feel ill the perfume is so strong. The grounds are beautiful too. The cons are the high point chart and the resale restrictions which makes it a no go for us as we like big rooms.

We went through the resort last week and the rooms are beautiful. The resale restrictions are not nearly as off putting as the point chart for me. Also, while I loved the skyliner, it has frequent opportunities for not operating - so it has a huge negative for being the major transportation system to the parks. I guess I could resign myself to ubering to DHS in the morning if I were to stay there...

Yes, we own there. We bought direct almost 2 weeks ago. Yay!!!!! So exciting.

We haven't stayed there yet but poked around the resort several times the last time we were there and it's gorgeous. We are a family of 5 so the murphy beds are super appealing and we adore the Skyliner.

I am in the camp that doesn't believe the resale restrictions will end up being that big a deal in the long run.

I answered No because I don't own there and I'm not in a hurry to do so.....that being said, if the right resale contract came along there I'd consider it. Other than that I'll just book it sometime by stalking at 7 months.

I don’t but I would if I had the money. (So mine is a straight “No” vote because the other option didn’t apply.)

We absolutely loved it there! When I went to visit and eat I wasn’t that wowed, but once we stayed one night there I was sold! And that was with a “standard” view. Up on a high floor we had a lovely, relaxing view of some landmarks of Epcot as well as the coming and goings in front of the resort.

Primo Piatto
Topolino’s
Gorgeous rooms
Great balcony views
SKYLINER
Beautiful mosaic murals
Lake views in the back
Close to Sebastian’s
Fabulous artwork all over
Dark, cozy library with Walt artifacts and black and white photos from his travels with Lillian

It’s great!

We went to see it on Dec 16th, 2019 and fell in love with it. Yes the point charts are steep, the Skyliner lines can be long, and the lobby is small. We love all the room choices and views from all the rooms 4th floor and higher. My plan is to enjoy the tower studios for those weekend getaways and the beautiful view while relaxing at the quiet pool. Food at any venue patio, pool, and of course the Top is fantastic. Unique and relaxing. Love every time we go.

Pretty much same thoughts.

I own BWV and prefer to walk to 2 parks and like the points chart much better. The only thing that bothers me about the 2042 end date is that it will make me sad when it comes. I don't consider resale value. (At all.) If I loved Riviera the same way, I would not care about the resale restrictions. I know I would have no problem buying a BWV contract that allowed me to only stay at BWV.

Honestly, when my BWV contract expires, I may be too old to want to walk to the parks. Maybe I'll buy a resale RIV as replacement because I want the skyliner at that point in my life. The proximity to Epcot and DHS is "king" in my eyes. BWV, BCV, RIV.... all great choices. Just comes down to preference.

I voted No but really wish I could buy a guaranteed fixed week at Riviera!
You can. We had quotes for that when we bought. I know we’ll nearly always be booking at the 11 month window though so didn’t bother. It is 100% an option though.

We bought direct in February (already own CCV and VGF). I didn't think I was going to like RIV, but our DIL asked us to book a 1 br. for a 4 day getaway. We loved being able to jump on the Skyliner for dinner and a stroll around Epcot in the evenings with our 2 granddaughters and we were sold! The resort is lovely and is now #2 for us (next to VGF!)

Riviera is our first contract, we are new members and bought 275 points direct. No kids yet, we are a couple in our late 20's/early 30's who love WDW. I kind of wish I would have bought 300, but I went in thinking 250 so I'm pretty sure I am just already suffering from add-onitis.

We LOVE having DVC so far! I have 4 nights at Riviera and 8 nights at Aulani booked this year, and already have 5 nights for the festival of the arts next year and plan to tack on Aulani days after my Hawaii DCL cruise when they become available. It was an expensive purchase but I can already see how this will save us money on our (generally hefty) annual Disney expense. I'm glad we waited to do it until it financially made sense, but man, I wish I had it years ago!

what's the resale restriction?

What was your direct price back in Feb? They have upped to $201 per point but offering incentives.

what's the resale restriction?
Those who purchase a Riviera resale contract can only use those points at the Riviera or to trade into RCI. They cannot use them to stay at any other DVC resort. Many believe that restriction will negatively affect the value of those contracts & thus are hesitant to buy Riviera direct. They worry about losing too much if they have to sell.

Wow - 8! that makes me feel better for having multiple trips in the works! We currently have three booked (for the moment) between now and Feb, was just there last month, Dec, Nov, Aug 2020.....

and as for the Riviera, we stayed there for 2 nights as part of a split stay last month and really liked it a lot - Topolinos (Sole Meunière is excellent!), Primo Piatto is a great counter service, the Skyliner. We also have it booked for a few nights in June as part of a split cash trip too. We are new owners at AKL (bought July 2020) and will most likely buy another and Riviera is on the list of consideration for that.

We came very close to buying an add on contract last August when the incentives were really good, but ended up just buying more CCV points instead. While the resale restrictions were a consideration, what really swayed us to CCV was the point charts. I think Riviera is a beautiful resort and we love the skyliner, but for us it's not worth the extra points to stay there over and over. We tend to go during busy times (fall, Christmas) so being able to book another resort at 7 months (other than SSR which we don't care for) isn't a given.

We were actually locked in right before the price increase. So we paid the $195 price, plus had the incentives. If I had known that my husband was going to love it, I would have bought last year when the prices and incentives were a little better.
