Riverera land location choice - ?

Hi this might be a totally silly question. But I was just looking at an ariel map of the Rivera area on Google maps, and I am curious why they put Riverea where it is. It seems like there is open land big enough to accomodate it's footprint slightly west and southwest of CBR. If they used this area they could have left Barbados alone. Just wondering why that was not the choice. Was it as simple as sight lines? Just curious.

I am no expert but I imagine cost saving- services etc already there, land already suitable to build on without shoring works etc.

CBR might not be making enough money as it use to, this is why the Poly units were converted to DVC.

It might have been part of that plot of land not owned by Disney if it is towards Bonnet Creek. That landowner did not want to sell to Disney.

Also probably wanted the water frontage and other sites lacked that?
