Riv and PIT for light sleepers and Convenience

They are literally my profile picture 😂 I’m not saying that cold brew and cookies were all it took to get me to sign on the dotted line, but…

The cookies were different last month. Thinner, larger, not as soft. Maybe we got a bad batch. Or maybe they've changed them.

We had them last month and they were the same as always.

Good to know. Hopefully it was just a bad batch. We weren't staying at Riviera, just skylined over one day, so didn't get the chance to compare.

Damn last month was not the time to go to Disney lol

Tell me about it lol. Besides the VGF snafu it was really cold and rainy. Probably won't go back in January anymore, tbh.

Same here! When I saw the news about a Florida "arctic blast" I couldn't believe it. We went to escape the cold 🤣🤣 we did do a cruise on the Fantasy to the Bahamas and I was so happy that we got amazing weather at Lookout cay (my new favorite island!) But castaway cay was raining and nassau was pretty dreary. It's a gamble going in January and with the amount of money were spending, it's one I don't want to be taking! Now talk to me after September when I go during the hottest month of the year... I sure know how to pick 'em 😆😆

I think I'm going to look into one of those owners lockers. I am the type that is always freezing as well. Maintenance claimed that the heater goes up to 80 degrees, but I wasn't feeling it in some hotels. Again, the AKV one was perfect for us, but ccv felt cold. They tried to blame it on us being from California and 80 degrees feels different there than in Florida. I don't know, I thought 80 degrees was 80 degrees 🤣🤣 I think they were expecting me to say I was from Alaska 🤣🤣 anyways I think I would benefit from bringing my own mini heater and the other items suggested!
We're from MA and our home resorts are Riviera and Poly. We have done a studio and 1B/2B at Riviera and a PIT studio this past weekend. No issues with sound at either resort, but the stupid glowing lights from the smoke detectors and microwave and coffee pots are too bright! We bring painters tape and/or Band-Aids to cover them. The curtains are very room darkening, but we do use the pants hanger to clip them tightly shut.

Sound machine, yes. Sleep masks, yes. Charge everything in the kitchen and not the bedroom, yes.

We also are cold and use Owners Lockers to store flannel sheets when we're down there and extra blankets. Those crappy flannel-esque top sheets do nothing.

Also, slippers!

Were the lights too bright for the Riv 1 bedroom and the PIT Studio? Did the microwave and coffee pots bother you from the one bedroom as well? Thank you for letting me know, all of these lights ruin my sleep 😆 I've actually left a hotel room before (not Disney) because of street lights coming through 🤣🤣

In the 1B/2B at Riviera, you're in the king bedroom, and it gets VERY dark in there. The only annoying light was the smoke detector green/red dot. If you use a sleep mask you'll be fine, but I am a VERY finicky sleeper and need conditions freaking perfect to stay asleep. I would just pack the little round Band-Aids for blisters and throw one on top of the light. My husband is 6'4", so he just reaches up and does it for me.

In the Riviera living room, where our kids sleep, the light from the balcony shines RIGHT on my son in the trundle. There's like a 1" gap, and only thing I can think to do is lean some couch pillows against it to push it against the door to cut out most of the crack of light. We clip the curtains in the living room shut with pants hangers for the main living area/our daughter on the Murphy bed.

I do find there's a TON of little lights in the kitchen area, but they don't bother our kids -- and our daughter uses a sleep mask, too, LOL. They won't affect you in the 1B/2B because you have your own separate room with a door and all that jazz, so that's fine.

PIT studio was actually VERY dark! Almost TOO dark, because their light switch situation was confusing. No issues with little lights, and the curtains and sheers worked perfectly.

Same here i am so crazy that if I wear a face mask I can't sleep either because then I get claustrophobic and the feeling of it on my face bothers me 🤣🤣 I've been hanging my black shirt from those smoke detectors but now i know there's better ways! OK this must be what the poster was talking about, she must have been in the living room 😬😬
