We are planning on taking our family (my parents and sister plus her spouse) to WDW with us next September. We were planning on sharing a one bedroom with my parents so that we would have the area we could all hang out while our toddler is sleeping in the bedroom. I know this is a tight fit but felt okay about it due to the pull down bed being an actual bed for my parents. Now I am questioning the bathroom situation though. I shower at night and my dad and husband take quick showers but I also know there is only one toilet in a one bedroom. Is the bathroom situation just too small for four adults? The tub will be useful for my son but no one else.
I’m thinking maybe we should get a one bedroom somewhere else or just do two studios instead but I think that living area would be nice. I’d love to do a two bedroom but could probably only swing that if we switched to AKV which my family has already stayed at.

I mean, if a 2 bedroom at a AKV is an alternative, I'd choose that even if they've been there before. Having two separate spaces and the living area is amazing. I just traveled with my mom and having the 2 bedroom made the vacation so much more enjoyable. You could get answers across the board on this. Some people will put 4 adults into a value room, my family likes to have a little space, but we also don't go to the park all day every day, especially my mother, though my son isn't far behind her in terms of needing breaks.

The 1-bedrooms at BLT and Kidani have two bathrooms. Are those an option? Otherwise, I would vote for a 2-bedroom at AKL any day. It’s my home so I’m biased, LOL. :-)

A 2 bedroom at AKL only has 2 bathrooms, while AKV will have 3 and the master bath is way better. AKL is shuttered right now, no restaurants. AKV at least has Sanaa. Back to the OP, DVC in my opinion messed up RIV. The 1, 2 and 3 bedroom rooms are short a bathroom. In a RIV studio you get a dedicated shower and in a separate attached room you have a tub with a shower. That’s 1 more shower than you get in a 1 bedroom and it cost you over 2 times the points as a studio. (Hello DVC wonder why 1 bedrooms don’t book fast and have the same capacity as a studio) AKV and BLT have the best bathroom ratio, all DVC resorts after should have stayed the same, but they didn’t. Can you get by at RIV, I’m sure you can, with a little bathroom planning.

I agree. I just can’t understand how they decided on the bathroom situation at RIV unless they wanted to almost force a party larger than two adults into a two bedroom.

Try an OKW two bedroom. Unless you are looking at a value two bedroom at AKV Jambo House. A two bedroom at OKW will give you tons of room.

I second the OKW. Love the room there. Staying at Riv in a 1BR starting Saturday with 3 adults and a grandtinker. We are not too worried about the one bathroom as it actually is divided nicely with two doors. Key thing is both my wife and my daughter have a sink and mirror to do all the magical morning stuff that takes forever. We all shower in the morning and I shower in the evening before going to dinner but I am that 6 minute army shower type of guy. Being hair challenged I don't need no stinking dryer! The Grandtinker saw the tub and deemed it hers!

Can’t wait to hear about your experience with three adults!

We just stayed in a 1BR at Riviera with our 2 teenagers- beautiful, big room but we are done with sharing a bathroom. Go for the 2 BR.

This is the cutest post. Enjoyed your humor. Made me laugh. Magical morning stuff is so important. LOL!! My significant other is the 6 minute Army shower guy too BUT he is not fully hair challenged, just partially, yet no dryer ever was necessary. Surprise grandma and takes some fun great smelling bath bombs to surprise her. They have a great store at GF for this type of thing. Have a great trip. I am jealous. We are too chicken to go with Covid.

Basin is always a stop. Mrs. Ally has used the big tub at OKW many times to soak the aches and pains out. I'm sure the grandtink will "let" her use the riv tub sometime too.

Pull outs are always hard. We asked for a foam topper at our last trip made all the difference

The 2 bd at OKW are great. They are large and the resort is beautiful.

RIV doesn't have pull out couches - they have queen size Murphy beds, and the mattresses are the same as the mattress on the bed. One of the factors that would make a 1 BR workable for two couples and a toddler, in my opinion.

We add 4 adults stay at Riviera in January and we were fine with 1 bathroom. Although it is great to have a second bathroom, we made it work with the one bathroom. We loved the Riviera!

Thank you so much for the input!! We’re the adults in the living room comfortable?

It depends on how much you plan on being in the room. If you're park warriors, this sounds fine, especially because of the RIV murphy bed set up. You can always brush your teeth in the kitchen.

Yes, my parents were in the living room and very comfortable. You also have two entrances to the master bedroom, one via the bathroom and the other near the balcony. Another plus to Riviera is the Skyliner - its almost a park ride!

I stayed in a Riviera 2-bedroom early in 2020 with 6 adults and 1 infant. 4 of the adults actually shared the 1 bathroom off the master and it worked well. The murphy bed was very comfortable for the couple who slept there. Having the 2 sinks made it fairly easily to share the bathroom too. We did coordinate if we were coming back from the parks and sometimes a few of us would use the rest rooms in the lobby before going back to the room.

Loved the Riviera! It is gorgeous and the staff was wonderful. Would do it again, but we’re a Magic Kingdom family and it was just too inconvenient for us to get the MK. We love Poly and it’s our home resort, we made the decision to get multiple studios there for now on...probably more info than you needed, but thought I’d share!
