Riu Orlando Hotel

Does anyone know anything about this hotel? My sister and I are going 2/23 - 2/28 and want to keep costs to a minimum. This hotel is $40.00 a night. It's on Palm Parkway. I've never heard of this one and I wondered if anyone has any information about it. Thanks!

I would be interested in knowing also. The only thing I know about it is that it is near the Sheraton Safari. There are many places to eat like shoney, mcd's, taco bell. It is not too far from Universal or WDW.

It is a clean, plain Jane, businessperson-like motel that will fill the role of inexpensive and well located to WDW and USO.

I stayed at other properties on Palm Parkway, and always drive by this hotel and wondered what it was! I never heard of anyone here on the DIS ever mentioning it. It certainly looks fine from the outside. Hope the place is good!

Thanks for the follow up ,i have seen it listed on skyauction.com and have been kinda skeptical.... Like you said no one on the dis has really said anything about this place.

We have stayed at the RIU several times. It is a very basic, but clean hotel. The location is great. The rooms are average, Holiday Inn kind of rooms. There are many foreigners at this hotel. At times, we were the only Americans there. Everyone was always very nice. Breakfast was always included and was good. Many odd items at the buffet- meats,cheeses, rice for breakfast?? Have you thought about using Hotwire or Priceline? Many 3 and 4 star hotels for great rates. We just stayed at the Peabody, a 41/2 star hotel for $80. if you are looking for just a basic hotel though, I think RIU would be fine.
