Rita's Italian Ice

I LOVE lemon ice, even though they don't always have it. Mango is good, too, as is passionfruit. A Rita's just opened up down the street...I've only gone once, but my 17yo is going there just about every day.

Where is it? A friend of mine lives down that way and always loves to get Rita's when she comes up to Frederick.

It's on Goshen Rd and Rothbury. Too close for comfort. Where does your friend live? There are other new ones in the upper Mont Co area.

Rittacino's are HUGE but good. DH and I usually share one. Here's a tip: ask them to make it with coffee ice cream instead of vanilla.

I like berry cream, chocolate fudge brownie and coconut cream

My son loves mint choc chip and my daughter likes any kind really.

i'm going to have to try the new cream ice flavors at our local rita's this weekend (sweet tea and birthday cake)!

I'm gonna make you all jealous! The closest Ritas to me is 1.5 blocks away. My DH is friends with the owner who gives him a stack of "have one free on me" cards. So many that we can't possibly get through all of them in one summer.

Unfortunately, they are only good at the store that he owns so I can't pass them on.

My favorite is mango. I've heard that is the #1 seller overall. I'd love to try passionfruit. I haven't seen that one on the board ever.

I love Rita's. I haven't tried many flavors because I love the chocolate. My kids love the Blendinis and Misto Shakes. I haven't tried the coffee drink yet - next hot day I will.

I like just about any of the fruit flavors - strawberry, blueberry, and oragne/tangerine being my favorites. Gotta be the vanilla custard with them. (Chocolate is good, I just prefer vanilla with the fruit ice.) Haven't been to one of ours in a few weeks - they didn't have the new summer flavors out yet. Sounds like a Rita's trip is in our near future! :)

Island Fusion is my all time favorite.
Then passion fruit, wildberry and cherry.

My Rita's has the birthday/party cake flavor- but it's always sold out.
I have my name on a list to call me next time they make it....

I didn't like the ice & custard treat (do they call it gelatto? I can't remember), I only go for the fruit flavors, with the lemon ice being the one I choose most often. Sometimes the mango. Maybe next time I go I'll try the passionfruit.

I feel Im being jipped out of something that sounds delicious!!!

Is this a shop? Or do you guys get it in your grocery store?

Im jealous! YUMMO! :upsidedow

The first time I ever brought my kids to a Rita's was about 6 years ago when we were in Allentown, PA, going to Dorney Park. We took a mid-day break and went to Rita's, where we each got something. We liked it so much I let the kids each get a second treat. I'd never done that before anywhere, so they sure remembered that! Great memories. :) Since then we tracked them down whenever we were anywhere close to one and were happy when they opened a couple stores, each one about 15-20 minutes from us. I stopped tracking their new stores since that was close enough and was surprised when the one opened up close to us. :worship: :teeth:

Actually, I saw that on the website last night. She lives in Germantown near Clopper and Great Seneca. She's excited to know they are there.

There's one on Wisteria in Germantown...about 5 minutes from her. :yay: We were just by where she lives last night at my son's Academy of Information Technology graduation at Northwest High School. :woohoo:

there's a rita's that close enough to us for a short ride, but not so close that it becomes a food group! :rotfl:

(i'm easily tempted to replace veggies with rita's! :goodvibes )

After all this Rita's talk I went there about an hour ago. I got to try the ritaccino (sp?) coffee drink with custard. I really didn't care for it:sad2: I got an ice for my son. He's home sick today plus just got an expander in his mouth two days ago and his tongue is all cut up. The Rita's really hit the spot for him.:thumbsup2
