Rise of the Resistance Opening?

I'm hearing ROTR is having big problems with the trackless ride system and they don't know how to fix it so it could be a while.

I have been reading similar things on other fansites and L.A./Orange County media sites. An opening any time in 2019, summer or no, is starting to look unlikely. I was going anyway, even if everything had been delayed instead of just one thing, but it is still disappointing.

Yeah, I really don't think they would risk the very negative backlash that opening in phases could (and probably will) bring if it was going to open in the near future, I think they would have delayed everything if that was the case.

It’s not just trackless. It’s multi systems put in to one ride. The vehicle has to navigate in and out of elevators etc and it’s more complex than the tot vehicles in Florida since that follows a set path.
Wait...the ride is going to navigate in and out of elevators?? Good lord. Disney, I can't hate you forever. This ride seriously just gets cooler and cooler.

Yes. The ride takes place on multiple levels in the show building.

The latest rumour I have read is late October-November due to multiple complications.

It’s a technical glitch. It’s being a bit blown up on Disney sites. It’s certianly an issue but it’s not Rivers of Light or Test Track at this point.

It takes forever for Disney to get a new e-ticket going, especially in comparison with Universal. I think it will be a victory if they have RotR up reliably by Thanksgiving.

This is an ambitious state of the art out of this world type attraction. They don’t come all the time.

Ok DL insiders... what’s the over/under date for the opening of RotR? Anyone in a position to have a decent guess wanna put a specific date out there so we can place bets?

Anyone reliable wouldn’t throw out a specific date yet ;)

Whatever date anyone says... I’ll take the under. I have a totally unfounded optimistic belief that RotR will be up and running sooner than later!

(And side note, rteetz, what a job you must have being rumor moderator in the year of SW:GE!!!)

Hey Ryan - you may want to explain for the DLR folks what you mean.

I have some familiarity on ROL - I think it was delayed about a year?

With TT, I am not familiar with what happened. Was it when they changed it over to the new format? 5-6 years ago?

And DLR folks are familiar with WOC which was a different thing but still, a problem that took almost a year to resolve.

Yes Rivers of Light was announced to open and then soon after that was cancelled because the show was having major technical issues. It was delayed quite a while before it finally opened as a shorter show missing some aspects that it wasn’t intended to have.

Test Track was the same sort of situation. It was set to open and then delayed I believe over a year due to technical glitches with the technology.
