Ok, best guess and theories on this...?

STGE looks amazing and I can't wait to see it in person, but nothing has me more excited than ROTR. That attraction sounds absolutely bonkers and I do not want to miss it in August! Someone tell me you think it will be ready by then!

My guess is latest by around D23, could possibly be earlier.

My guess is there are some serious issues that is preventing its opening, which is why they are opening the other stuff early. If I had to take a stab at it, at Disneyland, you are probably looking at October or November at the earliest, as they have to get DOSH to sign off on it after they resolve whatever issues they are having.

What have we heard about this ride as far as intensity?
My son hates 7DMT, ToT, Splash Mountain... The only “thrill” rides he loves are Star Tours and Mission Space. Wondering if he’ll enjoy this one at all..

Its a dark ride with drops, sharp turns, etc. So not a motion simulator like Star Tours and Mission Space.

I have to say after doing the VOID Star Wars virtual reality experience - I'd expect a lot from this - that was incredible - if this were anything like that it would be wonderful.

Ugh. I seriously hope it doesn’t take that long!

This isn’t a VR ride at all.

I keep hoping it’ll open June 23rd after the reservation period ends! And that the reason they didn’t announce that is to try and control crowds.

But I could be being idealistic because we’re also going in August. We’ve been planning to go just for SWGE for over a year! You’ll find me crying into my blue milk if it’s not open. :rotfl2:

The rumours are that they are yet to get ROTR to last more than 10 minutes before breaking down and there is a lot more work to do to get it up & running reliably.

From everything I've heard about this thing, it's ever so much more complicated than your run-of-the-mill theme park ride.

Disney is creating some of the world's finest attractions right now, but the more complex it is the more likely it is to require extremely costly and time consuming fixes. I guess we gotta take the good with the bad...

COUGH - World of Color - COUGH

Yes I know it isn't VR but I am just hoping it is very immersive if that makes sense.

Smuggler's Run might be more what you are looking for in terms of 1st person POV immersivness as sitting in the cockpit of the Falcon, as the experience will be running real-time through Epic's Unreal game engine just like the VOID experience and the outcomes will be based on your input...

Having worked with Unreal, I can say it's a pretty powerful engine and has great renderer that can put out some pretty photo-real scenes, so I expect the team at ILM XLab (assuming they are the team creating it) to put out a pretty realistic experience for the Falcon ride...

Current wording is that it will be by the end of 2019. If this is a cash grab then it will open in November in time for Christmas rush $$$. If this is because of an issue causing previously unforeseen delays then it will be ASAP. ASAP could be mid June, or late December, or missing the 2019 cut off entirely and who knows when. Think Pixar Pier suddenly having phases when at first it wasn't supposed to and seriously when will Jessie's lightly refurbed Carousel open and Flik's relocated Flyer's is barely getting it's cement pad done now for the Inside Out "neighborhood"/walled area. Or maybe a better example would be comparing this to World of Color coming back "by end of June", then it was going to be in time for the Halloween show, then in time for Christmas rush, and we just barely got it fixed and back up now that it is March.

I'm curious how having half of the promised attractions done at opening (and for the first who knows how many months) is going to impact the crowds if at all. I have heard lots of big talk of canceling trips to not have to go twice, but I wonder how many people will actually do that. Will the crowds be a nightmare for much longer as we get an intense additional push of crowds for both the opening and then again for the completion of the land? Getting concerned that my plan of staying away for a year may not be enough now :(

I'm hearing ROTR is having big problems with the trackless ride system and they don't know how to fix it so it could be a while.

How is this possible? They've been doing trackless ride systems at parks around the world for a pretty long time now.

It’s not just trackless. It’s multi systems put in to one ride. The vehicle has to navigate in and out of elevators etc and it’s more complex than the tot vehicles in Florida since that follows a set path.

Isn't Ratatouille trackless?

If it's an engineering problem with the ride itself, I don't know why it will be a delayed opening at DLR as well as WDW, unless they still don't think they will be able to iron out the bugs by the end of Aug.
