Okay, help me manage my expectations. If you don’t get a 7:00 am boarding group, what are the odds of getting 1:00 pm? Any tips for 1:00 pm strategies?

Same strategies for 1:00, but it actually seems easier, from reports. I’ve read of many success stories.

I will jinx myself here for the next time I try, but I’m 8 for 8 with the early time (since the first weekend it was open, so the time has changed!). I have a new, fast, phone, so I’m sure that helps. Follow the tips, and your chances are good.

Best of luck!

I agree that a fast smartphone processor and finding a fast connection are the keys to success. If you follow all the appropriate guidelines and tips you will be successful. We are 6 for 6 at 7:00 am. All the best.

Practice, practice, practice is a big help! Follow the tips in the thread @ENJDisneyFan quoted.

It's been reported that 98% of people here get a FP so prepare and hopefully it all works out for you.

I don't think this can be stressed enough. I often forget to try at 7 at home but recently have been setting an alarm and was SHOCKED by how quick the groups go. The process doesn't scare me, but knowing before hand what to do and the importance of closely following the steps outlined by others helped me set my expectations.

I am still over half a year away from doing it for real, but practicing can't hurt.

Thanks everyone. So, here’s what happened for us. We hit Join right at 7:00 am and saw the join button on the next page. Clicked join, ready to see the party selection page, but instead, a page highlighting the ride came up, several screens of description. I was taken aback by this surprise page and wasted a full two seconds scrolling before hitting the back button and joining again. This time I got the choose your party page and clicked to the next page right away but it was already too late.

We did get a group at 1:00 pm! Ride was awesome!

Thanks for the update! Do you know what you did wrong at 7:00am?

Happy to hear you were still able to get on it.

Still not sure. I tried to re-create the issue on a later day and could not. I did see another poster on these boards who said they had a glitch with the MDE app on the same day at the same time, so I’m wondering if it was a glitch and not operator error.

How does one "practice"?
You just follow the same steps you would on a normal day. At 7am/1pm, you push the join buttons and if you get to a page that says "not everyone is in the park" (or something similar) that means you would have gotten a BG that day. There is lots of good info in post #1.

Ok, thanks! Quick question though...the message "not everyone is in the park" say I am not practicing, and I am truly trying to get a BG at 7am from my AKV room? Nobody is in the park. Does the message just mean not everyone has a park reservation for that day?

It means that you don’t have one. If you have one, anyone else in your associated party will be checked for joining with you.
