I don't recall any explosions - just a WHOLE LOT of water. We all looked like we'd had a shower getting off that ride

This is funny. Well there are "explosions" that happen that go along with the storyline, but no pyro effects or anything.

No explosions, but you get soaked!! It is one of the best water rides ever!
I love to sit right in the front too, the view at the top is amazing!
