I heard that ripsaw falls has been going through some maintence, and I was wondewring if it was opened back up yet? Anybody knows if it is opened now or if not when it will be? I am going to be in the Universe (better than the world ;) ) Feb 1-4 and was wondering if it is going to be opened for me and other peeps to enjoy! I love this ride and I want my little brother to be able to ride, it is going to be his first time there.

Do you happen to know why? I was there last early march and it was opened.

It is being refurbished. There is no firm date yet as to when it will be completed.

It won't be open until April.

Whoa, that's a tad bit extreme. What are they doing to it? A normal seasonal refurb (like they do every Winter) wouldn't last nearly that long.

You can scroll down this page on Screamscape.

Looks like they are re-tracking the final drop.

And hopefully change the jets so they don't soak people. I don't mind a little splash on a water ride, but a complete shower is a little too much.

they said it would be open in june or summer, and they said that they are just changing the splash some. like people said earlier

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I went on it once by myself and I got sprayed. Then last June my family and I rode it and we might as well have gone underwater because we got so wet :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

According to Universal's PR office, it won't re-open 'until at least April,' which, to my mind, suggests it might take longer. Hope that's not the case.

hoping it will be open in the fall.

this is my year to try it.
and crossing my fingers, eyes, legs that i won't get soaked on it.

have always took a pass on it due to the drenching

The part that I loved about that ride is that you always got drenched, no matter what. Seems like not too many people share my affection! LOL

Looks fun to me

awwww cmon macraven...its a really fun ride. Dont be scared of a little water! :Pinkbounc

it's been exactly 2 years since the last re-tracking. last year was another refurb. no matter how much care this ride gets, it's always the most on and off attraction at IOA. JPRA has more broken individual effects, but it's it's still rideable - never down the amount of time dudley is. jaws doesn't require this much maintenance, yet it's seasonal now. come on, UO.... :furious:

sad that we will miss out on ripsaw during our march trip. it's a highlight of ioa and one of the better flume rides anywhere.

anybody ever ride tidal force at hershey park? now THAT's a drenching ride!

roller coasters, i am in......

water rides, just a wuss...............i hate walking around with squeaky shoes and wet you know what.....

Agree, wet shoes cause lots of problems. Feet get water logged after being in them for a few hours. This happens on Popeye the most. I always put my shoes in the middle compartment.
On Rip Saw Falls, the entire upper body is soaked.
Yes, it's fun if leaving and going back to the hotel room. But if staying, it means walking around in a wet, sweety shirt the rest of the day, which is uncomfortable.
JPRA is ok, a light spash, dries off after a few minutes of walking.
If we're heading over to USF, we skip Ripsaw and Popeye because it's like standing under a shower.

Part of the reason for Jaws' closure may be linked to the higher gas prices.

the .25 cent jets may be fun to spray people, but the ruin the ride. especially during high humidity times. it takes hours to dry your shirt. same thing with JTA at seaworld. you get mildly wet, but then you face the gauntlet of people with stacks of quarters on the jets. kills the fun, IMO.
