I already go on everything at universal and IOA and I fear nothing. My mom on the other hand gets scared easily. Between JPRA and Ripaw falls she wont go on Ripsaw. She thinks that it is higher up and that she will fall out. I just need a few opinions about these two rides so that she can see for herself which seems scarier.

You may be asking why I don't tell her. Well I have, but she wont believe me. She thinks that I am lying about the ride just to get her on. To me I feel weightless just a little more on JPRA. Ripsaw can be scarier, but only if I put my arms up. So if you guys could help her make a descision I would appreciate it.

I don't know if Ripsaw is higher, but unless your mom stands up, I don't see how she'd fall out. If she is scared, I imagine she will be hanging on to the handles for dear life.

That being said, I do find Ripsaw scarier. To me it seems like we will crash into that shed at the bottom of the drop. With JP you don't see it coming so you don't get that anticipation anxiety like you do when you are waiting for the ride attendant to wave you through.

Hope you have fun and can get your mom on all of the rides.

I can sympathize with your mom because I get scared on some rides. I found out that for me personally Ripsaw was 10 x scarier than JPRA. But dark rides don't scare me, it's heights. That openness of Ripsaw totally freaked me out, that I was on that boat-thing & so high up on the hill & the whole park could be seen & then the drop ! I thought I was going to die & then I got the water in the face at the end & that was too much for me :confused3 . But JPRA I knew to expect the drop when I saw the T-Rex & only freaked out briefly & it felt like it over quicker. Maybe it's how the rides are set up but before I realized how steep the drop it was over.

But recently my DH got a few drinks in me & magically I can ride almost everything ! Like Splash Mountain, Krakken, Journey to Atlantis & RNRC ! :drinking1 . But I still won't ride Ripsaw !! :rotfl:

Good luck but be upfront with your mom but let her decide . Good luck !

I know for a fact that ripsaw is shorter. It is a 60 foot drop to the ground level and then about 15 feet underground level. So 75 feet. JPRA is 85 feet. Thanks for the reports guys. Maybe she will face her fear tomorrow. Oh and by the way my brother is going to be on fear factor live tomorrow. Well I hope because we are going to get there early. It's going to be awesome!

Have a blast, UF! Please let all of us know about FF.

During the Ripsaw Falls drop, I never put my hands up for fear of flying out of the log. I always keep a firm grip on the silver handrails. JPRA is different. The lapbar securely fits you into the ride so there is no danger of falling out.

There is no danger of falling out on ripsaw either. It's just comforting for some people to grab onto something while falling. The only real way to fall out is to stand up. Same with JPRA. Also, what silver hand bars. Ripsaw Falls has black foam posts that are in front of you.

There are silver rails on each side of you. You've never noticed them?

OMG. No I haven't. I even went on yesterday. Hmmmmmm. I don't remember those. I mean I'm someone who goes every week and I never have noticed the silver bars. I only remember the black foam things in front of you. I'll have to check tomorrow.
