RIP Thread

Bob Eucker passed away at the age of 90. Known as "Mr. Baseball", he was a legend of self-deprecating gentle humor who had played catcher in the 50s and 60s for terrible teams and had a lifetime batting average of .200 (which was generously rounded up from .1967-something).

He was the radio man for the Milwaukee Brewers for over 50 years.

Famous he was for his acceptance speech into the broadcasting wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame 20 years ago. It's 18 minutes of straight-faced funny stuff.

And I especially loved him as the cranky radio professional, Harry Doyle, in the Cleveland Indians movie, "Major League". WARNING - some language here not safe for work or small children:

And all the Miller Lite Beer commercials he made (including the famous "Front Row") one:

Thanks, Bob - you made baseball fun.

Two weeks ago we said or final Goodby to our Katie AKA Chunk or Chunkles. We knew her time was coming for the last 2 years when we were first advised to get her a Help Em Up Harness. This past Christmas she struggled for the last time to get on the front seat of the golf cart for the Golf Cart Parade. Then a month ago she needed her harness every day at home to go up and down the deck steps for potty needs and again, when it was time for the stairs to go up to go to bed. It had become all to obvious that the arthritis in her good hip and spine had progressed more than we had hoped

Oh Mike I am so sorry to see this, and sorry I just saw this now. It’s so hard. No words just big hugs.
