RIP Thread

For all you Buffalo Bills fans from the 60's - Cookie Gilchrist died today at age 75 from cancer. He was a great running back & led Da Bills to their first AFL title in '64. Probably one of the greatest running backs ever to play the game.

Cookie was certainly a character. He decided he didn't want to play a down and took himself out of a game for a play or two. Saban didn't like that a lot!

RIP Cookie. Yet another link to former Bills greatness is now a distant memory.

Wow! They are dropping like flies, again.

RIP David Nelson. The last surviving member of the TV sitcom, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, died Tuesday at age 74. He had colon cancer. :sad1:

I never know what to say on this thread, I feel for each and every one for their loss but its hard to come up with something to say.

One person who passed away while I was away was my old next door neighbor, he was 93 yrs old and was one of the sharpest minds I have ever met in my life. He could meet you once and 3 yrs later remember your name your kids names and what you had talked about 3 yrs ago. He would always have a story about how "old" Nashville was in his day. We were heart broken not to be able to pay respects when he passed.

Another person was Major Richard "Dick" D. Winters (January 21, 1918 – January 2, 2011) he was the main focus of the mini series Band of Brothers

may they both rest in peace

Sorry to hear about your neighbor, Bob. It sounds like he had a long, good, productive life. Living 93 years and having your health and mental acuity is a great thing! Living that long and spending your last years in pain, illness, or with dementia, is torture. It's funny how we sometimes end up living next door to people that become closer than family. I'm sure you'll miss him.

That sucks Bob. He sounds like a great man.

When you first said your neighbor has passed away....well, you know what I was thinking.

I agree with Dave , Bob.
It's really a sad thing when someone you really like is gone. Seems like no matter how long they lived, it just doesn't seem fair.
May your friend rest in peace.

Jack LaLanne died yesterday from respiratory failure due to pneumonia. He was 96. They say he exercised every single day! Makes me feel like I need to pull out the treadmill and start walking...nah, maybe tomorrow.
