RIP Thread

Sorry Deb...

Chrysler Cordoba...

Well, at least I was guessing the correct manufacturer! I forgot about the Cordoba! It went the way of the AMC Pacer. May they both R.I.P.!

And let us not forget the AMC Gremlin, a fine example of an American-made muscle car!

Anybody ever own a Chevette?

My first car was a banana yellow '74 VW Super Beetle. Glad to see they came back from the RIP status. I loved that car! (Loved it to pieces, in fact)

Ah, the Pacer. The first "wide bodied small car." The pregnant egg. It really was ahead of its time, if you think about it. AMC was just too progressive. I have a patient who still has an AMC Hornet, and a distant cousin of mine who recently passed on had a purple Gremlin that was really cherry. Afriend of mine in college took a Gremlin and ripped out the engine and interior. He replaced the motor with some huge powerhouse. You now had to sit in the back seat and drive it. I rode once with him - the thing was really unsafe and extremely unstable, but it would go like hell.

My oldest brother muscled up a gremlin....its funny....no matter how much money he sank into it....it was still as ugly as a Gremlin.

I thought the "Fine Corinthian Leather" was from the VOLARE???

Okay...I have secretly LOVED the Pacer. Bob and I test drove one once. The wide body and the huge windshield. Felt futuristic at the time. It's was the 70's!

RIP this week for the English author John Mortimer who gave us so many stories of Horace Rumpole. Mortimer was 85.

The Rumpole books were made into a tv series which was shown first in England then later in America on PBS - 7 seasons which ran between the mid-eighties to mid-nineties intermittently. Rumpole was a barrister who never plead guilty.

Anyone else a fan of the Rumpole series? I've got all 7 seasons on DVD. The actor who played Rumpole, Leo McKern, died in 2002. :coffee:

PM Jen. The answer would be good for a laugh. Also check the last couple of pages of the Every Man Needs thread and you'll get an idea.

It might need an actual phone call to catch him up since so much has been deleted, but Pete is a smart guy....I think he can catch up pretty well...
