We will be there next week dd11 and dh love coasters. Discovered the Hulk and Mummy and now couldn't wait for RRR - as a concerned and nervous mother :scared1: Do you think it's too much? :confused3

Thanks to all who can help. Good and the Bad :)

I've been thinking the same thing. I asked several people over at OU and they said it's nowhere as bad as Hulk and that the only scary parts are the first and second drop, which comforted me. I was also a little worried about the going up on your back thing, but it shouldn't be too bad as its only a few seconds. I've been watching quite a few on-ride videos to compare to the coasters I've already done (you can see one here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JjI2a8wRe34) :rotfl:

The only thing that puts me off a little now is that they seem to still vary the speed etc. so whilst most people's rides are ok, some have rough rides.

I think the ride is fun. Sometimes it's rough, but it really isn't too intense. The beginning is a bit shocking the first time, but it's literally over in seconds. I think if they can handle the Hulk/Mummy, they'd be fine on HRRR. :)

It is no worse than Hulk. It does not go upside down. The most intense part, for those leery of coasters, is the lift.

It can be a bit shaky.

I did it last week and wouldn't wait in line for it again. We did it first thing in the morning so we didn't wait long, but certainly wouldn't wait more than 15 minutes for it.

It was uneventful even though I sat in the front row. Just not enough to enjoy, it seems very compact and too qujck. The Hulk is by far better as is the Mummy.

Whooo weeeeeeeeeeee, thanks for the info. We will be staying onsite at RPH does this ride have express pass?

i like all the other roller coasters at IOA/US better..the mummy, hulk, both dueling dragons coasters..i was really looking forward to this new coaster and was disappointed..i rode it 3 times but with very short waits (20 min or less) each time..and wouldnt wait any longer..its a new coaster and its really bumpy/shaky for a steel coaster..

No express pass just yet.

If you like airtime, the back is pretty good about that.

Well the ride's speed isn't changed, it's the actual trains that the coaster uses. Some of them feel more shaky than others, but the speed of the ride stays the same.

If they can handle Hulk and Mummy this ride should be no problem. The first climbhill and drop look worse from the ground and are really not that bad.:thumbsup2

The only scarry part is the line/wait...:scared1:

We used the singles line and were able to get through in less than 15 minutes. When we were there, it wasn't obvious that there was a singles line (and they don't always offer it) so be sure to ask :)

I was very initimidated by RRR when I first saw the track, but as others have said, it does not compare to the Hulk at all - if your kids can do the Hulk, they will be fine.

Actually, a lot of people were saying that sometimes the coaster was a lot faster and staff were actually using laser pointers to check speeds at brake points. It seemed as though they were trying to decide what speed it should go.

^Yeah, the trains aren't powered. It's gravity. Once the train releases from the top of the lift, it rolls freely down the track, hence the name ROLLer coaster. If a train is dispatched with a team of football players on it, yes it will go faster than a train with no one on it, due to it being heavier, that's normal physics. But as for testing to see how fast to make it go? That's gravity, at a constant 9.8 m a second for freefall. Calculate in friction for the track, angle of descent, weight load, weight distribution, then you can tell how fast it goes.

Bottom line: the train's aren't powered. Gravity runs them.

I say this as a roller coaster fanatic who enjoys the likes of SheiKra at Busch and Magnum at Cedar Point, but the Rockit is actually pretty wimpy in the overall thrill stakes. I enjoy the lift hill and like the airtime in row 6 but it's not a particularly intense coaster. It's actually a good 'starter' coaster for kids who are ready to move on from the kiddie coasters.

Thanks for the math lesson..:lmao:

Do they offer videos of the ride after you're finished?
They do offer videos. I think they have them working 100% now. I remember the first time riding, there was no video. This past Sunday, my friend received a video on her ride so I'd assume it works.

I know the Hulk's videos are like $30, so I'd assume something like that for HRRR video.

I'd recommend watching one of the vids on youtube of the on-ride vid you can purchase for HRRR. It doesn't look worth it IMO as most of it is computer-graphic version of the ride with barely any footage (don't think it plays the song you chose either). The Hulk one looks a lot better.

Appreciate the links, don't know why I never thought of looking at YouTube. Tried to search for Hulk vids, but only saw ones shot by people themselves. Parents are coming down in May and love buying official pics/vids. This definitely gives me a better idea of whether or not it is worth the price.
