RIP Ray Charles !!!

Oh no! That's so sad.....:( He's so beloved here in Georgia. He especially inspired me with my love of music. I felt that if he could do it, then my low vision shouldn't stop me either. And that's on top of my appreciation for his musical legacy he has left us all. He was a genius, and he will be missed.

They played Georgia On My Mind on the ride home...I cried like a baby!

I did have a chance to meet Ray Charles. My cousin is a musician and played in the Ray Charles band for 2 years during the late 80's. The musicians were all called by the instruments that they played - my cousin Jeff was "drums". My cousin always told us great stories about travelling the country with Mr. Charles.

Prayers for the family.

What an enormous loss to the entertainment world. I saw him perform about 10 years ago at a small theater here in MA (South Shore Music Circus). The show was fantastic!

So much talent. Thanks for the great music Ray!

That is sad news. His version of "America the Beautiful" was the best! Those of you that got to see him were fortunate.

He will be missed, he added so much to the entertainment world, a unique individual, so influential on so many who followed him. Thanks, Ray Charles.

I never realized he was ill. :(

One thing I have to comment on. So many 'older' entertainers pass and my kids have no idea who they are. They saw this on the news and not only were they aware of who he was, they all agreed on one thing, "He was cool!" ::yes:: He could touch so many generations and so many walks of life. :D

I grew up listening to Ray Charles. My Mom had all of his "albums." She was a great fan and since she's been gone for 26 years now, it brings back so many memories to reflect on the music of his life.....
