Oh no! I didn't hear about this until now.

:sad1:

I really liked him. He will be missed.

(CBS) NEW YORK Veteran actor Peter Boyle, who played the crabby father of Ray Romano on the CBS comedy "Everbody Loves Raymond," died Tuesday night in New York, CBS News has learned.

Boyle was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Philadelphia. He left a calling as a Christian monk in the 1950s to become an actor, and in 1970, he won acclaim playing an intolerant factory worker in the movie "Joe."

In 1974, Boyle joined Mel Brooks to star as the famous monster in "Young Frankenstein." Boyle reportedly was in full monster make-up for the film when he met his future wife, Rolling Stone reporter Loraine Alterman Boyle.

I am sure Peter Boyle will liven up heaven when he arrives. He was a talented man.

Peter Boyle died in New York City on December 12, 2006 at New York Presbyterian Hospital after a long struggle with multiple myeloma and heart disease.[1]

How sad :( I loved watching him in any role he played!

I knew he must have been pretty sick the year he went from being pretty hefty to looking like he does in the picture above. He lost a lot of weight, I think it was one of the last seasons of Raymond. :(

He really was a great talent. Fortunately he'll live on in our hearts, Raymond is on several times a day around here. And its a show I've never tired of, it was just consistently funny with really good actors.

RIP Peter Boyle. :(

Young Frankenstein was wonderful... watch it sometime. You will see some fantastic Peter Boyle.

:guilty: "Holy Crap"....my favorite expression. Rest in peace :guilty:

How sad. He also played a character on my favorite show of all time-The X Files.

He certainly got around NYC last year! By coincidence, we happened to sit right behind him at both Spamalot and the Pillowman on Broadway last year. My wife asked him if he was following us. He remembered us from Spamalot and was very cordial. We spoke about what shows we had taken in that season, but he really did look sick...much older than at any time that I had seen him on TV. He was a very nice man...
