The Dis Family has lost another of our beloved members, @luvmarypoppins, who’s been on the boards since 2003. Naturally she loved all things Disney, but she also had a beloved husband and three sons who were the lights of her life. She held a strong faith in God and belief in the power of support and prayer, which were hallmarks of her time here with us.

Many years back she came onto the Breast Cancer Survivors thread after having a bout of thyroid cancer. And she stayed. Was one of the most visible posters there and was always available to virtually hold a hand and check on someone undergoing a rough time. Her prayers meant a lot to so many of us.

Over the past several years she battled many health issues herself, but she always kept her spirit faithful and lively. She will be greatly missed.

Her sons let us know and will be reading here. Please offer them some words of comfort and any memories you have of her, if you will.

I'm very saddened to hear of luvmarypoppins' passing. We "met" here on the DIS a LONG time ago through our shared journey of thyroid cancer. I had a very typical case of thyroid cancer; however, LMP's thyroid cancer was a fairly unique type that persisted. We often compared notes over on the Thyroid Thread which is on the Coping and Compassion Board. Sometimes I felt so bad because my case was fairly free of complications and LMP dealt with so much.

But I was in awe of her. She was such a trooper and she never let all the things get her down--she handled it all much better than I ever could. She kept on living and kept up her love of Disney, even when she couldn't have been feeling her best.

I enjoyed reading over the years about her children and their journey into adulthood and how devoted they were to her. We should all be so lucky to have such a supportive family.

We didn't chat much lately as she spent most of her time on the breast cancer thread and I didn't really have a place there; however, I always tried to keep tabs on her and she will be greatly missed. To this day, I also still really miss PlutoPony, another DISer who lived near me and was just gone one day--such is the bittersweet of online friendships.

@Pea-n-Me Thank you for sharing this sad news. I was always in awe of LMP, admiring her strength and faith to battle what sounded like a never-ending war. She was funny, wise, kind, and strong, and will be greatly missed. Rest easy, luvmarypoppins.

I was fortunate to meet luvmarypoppins at Disney several times over the years. She really enjoyed staying at the Swan, especially at Christmas when the Swan had a huge chocolate Santa display. Covid and her health struggles derailed our meetups, but she did not let anything stop the support and encouragement she gave to others on various DIS threads. The DIS is a bit darker and lonelier without her. Blessings to her family. Seeing the photo of her with that little baby on her lap sure is a bright spot for me that I will remember.
